Just got my seeds in from Dr. Chronic, Top 44. I was planning on using paper towel method between two dishes or a baggie on a dish and to put them on top of my boiler in the basement. The only thing is that its pretty humid/cool in my basement and would the top of the boiler be the right temp? Or should I look elsewhere... Second, when they crack and a root comes out, I read I shouldn't use nutes at all for a while. Should I plant them in regular topsoil/perlite and wait till they sprout? Or should plant them straight in my FF ocean forest/light warrior soil mix? EDIT: whats a normal time window for a root to show? I've heard anywhere from 24 hrs to a week? Just wondering because my light won't be here for a couple more days Last edited by letsgrow; 06-21-2007 at 04:03 PM..

Dont use any Nutes untill first set of cotyletons show yellow-ing. I also use basically same mix... F.F.O.F. and Light warrior... I put the germed seeds right in that mix. Have had no problems. I have seen roots appear in as little as 18 hours and also had some take up to 5 days... Just wait it out and keep them moist.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i'd put them somewhere dark and warm. i use 1/4 strength nutes after 11 days or when the third true leaf set appears. until then, no nutes. i wouldn't bring anything from outdoors to an inside grow. not w/o bleaching it first. topsoil has little value for growing anyway. i'd use something with no nutes added. i usually see a good sized taproot at 24/36 hours.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Boilers get kinda hot no? I would make sure, check it with a thermometer. Try and stay about 21-26c. I've read if you go too warm you'll increase male percentage or even "cook" your seeds. I germed in pt in a bowl on top of the monitor. Soon as the seeds cracked I put em right into miracle grow seed starter soil, it's nice and mild. The first seedlings I did in that seed starter went up to about 3 weeks with no signs of deficientcies until 3 1/2 weeks. This time I mixed some worm castings with it. That should keep em happy until transplant.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | paper towel method, toss em in a little tuppy. i make about a 4 oz glass of water with one or two drops of liquid karma.. not that it makes a damn bit of difference. iput the tuppy on top of my computer, i covered said tuppy in duct tape to make it lilght proof then put that in a box to make sureits dark. and so no one asks why i have tuppy covered in duct tape sitting on my computer. once the tails are bout an inch long i toss them in cups of FFOF, 2-3 cups soil and one cup of perlite is my ratio. water them with water/weak liquid karma.. or just water. you dont need to feed them for some time as FFOF is pretty loaded soil. super easy.. i find the simple methods to work best.. trying all sorts of crazy shit spells disaster. especially when you do so many different things, then you have bad results its nearly impossible to isolate the culprit. start simple. seeds, dirt, water, light. thats really alla plant needs to grow. from there on in expirament. things can only get better ![]()
