Yes we do, we just found some simpler way's, I guess.
Like, just putting them straight to soil.

yeah but alot of people like to sprout in cups, this make sense because you might get a few that dont germinate, so you sprout more than you need so in case some dont germinate, you can still start all your plants at the same time. Instead of having plants that are a week apart.

how intense does the lighting need to be if you drop the seeds straight into the soil? Would placing a humidity dome over the top help out some too?

midwest, seed germination doesn't require light.
A dome is a must, you can't elevate the humidity with out one, and that's what makes seeds pop, along with warmth.
I use solo cups as I find it so easy to do.
If seeds are good I get 100% germ.

No lighting is required till they sprout and yes humidity domes can be useful. Looks like Lou and me posted the same thing almost.

the brit is beginning to sprout.

what i decided to do do is,3 days ago i put 5 satori seeds straight into some soil and placed them in a warm cupboard with a dome covering all ( something mandala also advises against ) and 5 using the old paper towel method that ive always used with very little failure. I think i may be a convert. 3 days later all 10 have popped but the ones in soil are about an inch above ground whereas all but one of the paper towel ones are still below ground. Dont get me wrong,we're only talking a day or so's difference in growth but i think i'm going over to the dark side

well if everyone has had this much success with it, I'll have to give it a try. Do the seeds need to be germinated at the time of putting them in the soil? or just take from the package and drop them in?

this works, and in my opinion, is the lease stressfull thing for the plant. but, it does seem to take a day or two longer than soaking in water or napkin.either way, as long as you plant the seed eventually, you cant go wrong.
