I followed Mike from Mandala seeds recomendation for in the soil germination. I planted 6 seeds (3 satori 3 speed queen) directly into fox farms ocean forest soil with no extra added perlite and watered with ph 6.5, 3 days later all 6 sprouts poked their heads out. I've tried other methods in the past, both paper towel and glass of water, I'd have to say this is much faster and a more efficient use of time.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | At the risk of being pounced on i'll say that soil germination its much easier and has better results than water. Not sure why, i think there are zymes in soil that RO water or just plain tap water doesn't have. I even took some seeds once that i tried to start in water, they popped a little white root, but did nothing afterward. I threw them into some dirt outside and a few days later, they started to sprout.... Maybe its in my timing, not sure. Your not alone... TheGrower420

![]() | I'll vouch for the wet paper towel method... it has always worked for me. Out of 9 seeds in a cd case... I had 9 pop... I kept the cd case in a sweat shirt in my car for a day or two. I'm sure the humidity in there warmed those seeds up just right ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | That would depend on the temps outside. If it's 100 degrees outside, you'd stand a good chance of frying your seeds in a hot car. Just use a good amount of common sense. Most people put the wet paper towl in a baggie and place it on top of their cable box.

![]() | I don't have cable... and where I live... just two days ago it was 40 degrees with frost in some areas so 32 or below ... and now its 86... So a lil sunshine on a 80 degree day isn't gonna do much harm... I could see if it was roasting on a dash or something ![]()

![]() | mandala also advises (against) using any other method, but having just bought 10 santori seeds and having only ever used the paper towel method im a little puzzled as to why these seeds would be any different. anybody?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've always germinated mine in seed starter mix which is mostly peat moss, workds great, I've also have used those jiffy trays wich have the little disks in them that turn into little bags of peat moss when you water them, those work really nice and have a lid to keep moister in, and they are dirt cheap, I see alot of people using cups to start their sprouts in, I'd like to suggest using peat pots, you can fill them with whatever type of soil mix you want, they come in various sizes, and instead of having to transplant, and stress your plant, you can simply put the whole thing, pot and all, right into the new pot, the roots will grow right through, The pots are like 10 for 2 dollars. I'm surprised that more people don't use or know about these things. I always thought the paper towel method was kind of dumb since one they germinate you have to screw around with putting them all in the soil, the less you have to handle them the better in my opinion.
