problems w/ seed sprouts.

ive been germing some seeds, & i can get them to germ, but once i plant them, they pop up w/ the seed shell still on them, & then they die b/c it doesnt pop off. any help

well 420, what method are you using, paper towel, stright to soil? if you need to get the seed off carefully pull it off. once the plant is out of the soil aways, it should fall off normaly, also are you feeding it cuz that will kill it and what soil are you using? what lights? come on you have to tell us what the enviorment is like. or else we wont have any way of knowing the right problem.

you can mist it with a spray bottle, that sometimes helps it get the seed off, but not always. other times you might have to remove it manually, i use a safety pin for that. every once in a while i've killed the seedling trying to get the shell off so be careful.

i soaked the seeds in water for 48hrs, then used the paper towle method, took 24hrs to grow tap root, then i put them in jiffy pucks in a humidity dome, & it popped up in 24hrs w/ seed shell still on it. its fem master kush seeds, & they are the only ones giving me this prob. no nutes. & the seed shell is slightly cracked, but its still hard, i dont think i can pull it off, the one b4 this did the same but died b/c the shell wouldnt pop off. should i try to use the match box & sandpaper trick?

the matchbox/sandpaper trick is for getting seeds to germ so i don't think that will help with this problem. just mist the seeds and see if the sprout can get the seed off when moist. give it a day or so doing that, and it might open enough that you can remove it if necessary. it is also easier to remove the seed safely when the seed is wet.

well an update, i got half of the shell off, but the other is like stuck on good, u think it will fall off now that the other side is off & is now under light?

lots of times there's a membrane inside the seed that sticks as well, so it is hard to say.

i just had the same thing happen myself, sometimes you can take the shell off and they're perfectly fine and other times there's just no saving em.
