Do germinated seeds that have been put into soil need to be put under light for them to sprout? Do i keep them in a dark place until the sprout and then start to give them light?

i normally keep a light above them so when poke their heads up they'll have lighting, but they don't actually need lighting until then.

a bit of lighting brings the heat up a bit which raises germ rates... only useful if ur environment gets too cold like mine n u dont have a heat pad

It is helpful to have light on them when they first sprout, this helps them just poke their heads out of the ground and not stretch at all. I've had a seed sprout that I didn't check on soon enough and it stretched quite a bit in a very short time.
