Im a newb also and i am testing things i learn out with bagseed (ALL NEWBS SHOULD DO THIS! DONT WASTE MONEY ON GOOD SEEDS JUST TO MAKE SIMPLE MISTAKES) I like the heat bad idea that will definently be on my list of things to get. But for now i've noticed the wet paper towel under a 26 watt cfl does fine, dont put it too close because it will dry the paper towel out, just close enough to keep the water luke warm... even if it starts to dry out a little i just give it a myst with the squirt bottle enough to keep the towel damp... this might be completely wrong but its worked for me so far. hope this help and thanks for the tips guys!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | What I do for germing is put the seeds in a glass of water for about 36hrs, by the the seed should be in the bottom of the water. Put it in the soil about 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch, then let it sit for a couple of days. Make sure the soil is pre watered though. I don't have to use a cover or anything, I just keep the wattage low do the water doesn't dissipate early on. Usually have a sprout after about 2-3 days. No problems yet. Never had any luck with the paper towel method, it would always water rot the seed from the inside. Not fun to be waiting a week with a seed in a peat pellet, pull it out, and the damn thing is nothing but mush.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | hmm, i usually get my seeds to come up, if they are viable at all. what i find most useful, is a mister, is it called mister? what you use when pressing clothes to wet them a little.got mine in a garden store though whether i just pop em in plain soil, sometimes just plain soil, sometimes a litle perlite, vermite, (10-15% on seedlings small pot) or put them in a papercloth (used toiled paper the other day) i mist them wet. usually they come up in a day or 2, i dont put them in water before or anything, but i dont allow the medium to become completely dry, but i dont drench it either, just spray it good and it will slowly mix all through the medium. some seeds i had took 2 weeks+ , those were in a papertowel, im pretty sure soil was quicker,i dont really pay attention to time though,i used the papertowel method because i had some seeds i took pretty early, wasnt sure about any of them, didnt want to stare at pots ![]() had about 70-80% success on those seeds, usually i have had 95-100% success, so when you make your own seeds, go at least 2 weeks, even 3 to let them ripen. i dont put them near a heat source or anything, though roomtemps are good, 65-70 at coldest , 75 at hottest, i put them in the veg room anyways.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It's ok, seaman. We've all taken a ride on the failboat at one point or another. ![]() When I purchase a bag of herbal refreshments I always keep the seeds. I catalog the smoke characteristics so I kinda know what to expect. I like running a 60/40 ratio when it comes to soil, though it depends on the soil, too. Some soil has more sand and clay than others and requires more perlite. Over-watering is a bummer but it can be prevented with a little care. I was weigh my medium by hand when it's dry and the when it's wet. When germing seeds I'll wet the medium and allow all excess water to drain and then sow my seeds about 1/4" - 3/8" deep. I don't have a heating mat, so I keep the containers in a clear plastic container with the lights on 24/7 and that usually keeps them warm. I only water when the containers start to feel light and then I'll use a 10ml syringe to water them until they get a little bigger. Hope that clears some stuff up for you, amigo Happy Growing!-CS
