I did some germinating and I had like 4 different strains but only the big buds sprouted.
I planted the 4 big bud seeds in a 60/40 mix of soil and perillite.
punched a hole about a inch deep and dropped the seedling in.
I than put the little pots under a 26w cfl
watered frequently ( I think this is where I fucked up )
I noticed the seeds are right at the bottom of the pots because my watering has pushed them down.
Been almost a week and I stil have no sprout on these.
Also the Thai Stick seeds germed half assed but I think in the shot glass they were doing to much moving around in the water cause when I try to grab the glass to inspect obviously the litttle seeds are moving all around in the water. I observed that the seeds stopped germing. THey cracked open enough for me to see the tip and kinda stayed there so I put them in soil and am still waiting on those.

So I have 8 seeds left in total and I cant afford to lose them. Can someone tell me what they think I did ? Do you think the watering will have caused me to loose them ?

hey oceanman .... 1" deep is too deep, ~½" works for me. soak them in a shot glass with pH'd water for a couple days or until they crack, then into the soil. keep moist, not soaking wet.

Perfect Newbie Seed Starting Technique
1.Get some Rockwool(1 inch cube),a plastic container with a clear top(anything will do seed starter, old cookie container, etc.) It must be a tight fit.,a heating matwith temp control, a flouro fixture, some water, and your favorite seeds.
2.Put the rockwool in water and let it sit(Doesnt hurt to make the Ph of the water 5.8 to 6.2 but i usually dont, also you can add a 1/10 seaweed solution. After the rockwool is thoroughly drenched take it out and let it drain(remember to never squeeze rockwool)
3.Place the rockwool in the container with the heating mat set at 80 beneath the container under the flourescent light (appox 10 to 15 inches)Tear a little crack in the top of the rockwool and place seeds at top in crack and put a little piece of wet rockwool on top of them.
4.Close container and wait. Dont water them Again DONT WATER THEM!!
5.After 1 day start checking on them Most seeds will germinate after 1 to 4 days. Just lift the little piece of rockwool and you can see your seeds. If the root isnt pointin down i use tweezers and make it point down. Also dont stick the seeds in the PREMADE hole in the cube if you do you CANT SEE your seeds.I usually stick a small piece of rockwool in the premade hole so the seed stays up top.I also use tweezers sometimes to help break the seed from the shell(i have perfected this art you must be very careful doing this, Try it on bag seed first).
6. Once they have sprouted you should move the flouros closer to prevent stretching. After a week or two(Depending on how well they are growing)they are ready to be moved to dirt or your favorite hydro setup.
Last Time I got 10/10 Serious Seeds- Chronic to sprout and 8/8 Mr. NIce-Black Widow.
100 % success It really works that well. Also if you dont have a heating mat with temp control Dont Use a regular one I feel they get to hot its best just to do without, or place the light close enough that it heats from the top. If some seeds havent popped after 4 days give the rockwool a little spraying with water but most viable seeds will have popped by then.

Thanks for the advice fellas. Also I should add that the room there in is probably the coolest in the house which is at about 16 - 17 celsius. At what temps is to high and to low for the mj pant to survive?

17° C is only 63° F and IMO that is too cold to get good growth. My seeds are germinated at around 80° F (about 27° C).

I germ my beans on a seedling heat mat. Seeds need warmth for proper germination. 80 degrees works very well, as Cheese stated

I like your 40/60 perlite to soil mix. For me, the way I grow if I used 25% perlite I'd drown my plants with over watering.

Before you put your seed into the soil, water the pot completely. Let it sit overnight and then plant your seed in the morning. 1/2 inch deep is deep enough, going deeper risks the emergence of the seed.

Once you transplant up to the next pot, you can sink the seedling deeper in the pot if you like.

MJ growing likes 75F temps. For germing, go warmer.... I think Blue and Freaks are right on with suggesting 80F.

Peace- OD
