I totally agree with Profound. I mentioned this in another thread on the same subject... If science has already proven (hasn't it?) that gender in some plants is not determined until after germination and ethylene gas can cause a mj plant to be female, then this sex at germ speculation just doesn't make sense. If sex IS determined at germ, then the science behind the ethylene gas theory CAN'T be true. I am not stating any of this as fact because I don't know. It is just my understanding thus far from what I have studied.

But I am curious to see what you good people find. Personally, I think it was just a coincidence that happened and a stoner thought "Hey I got all these females and they all had curly tails. EUREKA! That must be why!"

The same could hold true for the so called banana religion; Hey I got all these females and I had the bananas in there, so that must be why.

If you plant a cannabis seed point up in the ground it's tap root will always curl down. When you've been doing this for a good amount of time you can be skeptical of such claims.

I may be wrong but I'd think that the DNA in the seed had already been selected as a male or female at the time of the creation of the seed. And when you planted it, you got what you got.
I'm very much interested in the results of the experiments that others are trying.

MJ plant is unisex for the entire veg time, and only environment favors females.
"Shake" the weather a little, and you get a bunch of males.

Also big role, plays the genetic make up of the seed, since growth habits passed genetically to the seeds, so the seedling will know what to do when it pops out.
So if the mother was grown badly most likely you'll get a lots of male seeds and many Hermie females.

Just my others might disagree.

I think the existence of pre-flowers during veg makes this untrue. pre-flowers that usually come around 5 weeks, after the 3-4 week period that many believe to be the gender determining weeks. ...just sayin.

Pre-flowers don't exist until the plant it's an adult with alt nodes, thus veg time it's over.
Until that time the plant will decide what to be, by "feeling" of environment.
Unless the plant was manipulated genetically to become a female, it will go by environment factors of what to become.

well i was doin good with the experiment but i went to my outdoor location where the little seedlings were and there were cops everywhere and i saw the one carrying out my little cups in an evidance box. so i asked one of them what was going on and he said that some jackass was trying to grow marijuana so i said whats this world coming to and went straight home haha. but im gonna try again the nxt time i germ.
