if you nuke a seed long enough it will pop like a corn kerrnel.

not sure but it would make sense, i got some bagseeds and ill nuke em toseeificould pop em like pop corn and then i will lightly nuke em like if i was drying a bud (50% power for 15-20 sec intervals and try and germinate emto seeifthey do.

but i know this for sure

remember those hacky sacs they used to sell that had potseeds in em, they used to advertise em in HIGH TIMES. they were able to wend em any where legaly, becasue the seeds were sterlile, and i believethey madethemthat way with microwave radiation.

so my money would be on the betthatthey wont germinate butlikei said i have some brute sized bagseed ive been saving for maleplant selection (i got like a bout 150 gramsof bagseeds allnice and healthy onestoo) that i will nuke a portion of em and try and germ. allin the nameof science and for us to know.

Almost certainly not. Amount of time, heat setting, viability of the seeds are all variables that could make the difference tho. Toss em in dirt and expect nothing is my advice.

people claim that you can hyper-germinate seeds by nuking them. I can almost guarantee that's not true. My guess is somebody threw some seeds in a micro one day and they split open a little from the expanding water inside (like popcorn)... maybe even with a little bit of the endosperm peeking out looking like a root tail... and said person mistook it for germination. An urban legend was born.

corn wont even pop like popcorn.. its a special type of kernel, called... get this. popping corn! lol so no no matter how long you nuke it it wont flip itself inside out and puff like pop corn.

like i said i wasn't sure if they would pop. i tried it and they didn't.

also i nuked 50 seeds on 6 power level (my micro. goes from 1-10 on the power level) for 1)15 second shot with ten of em, 2) 30 seconds with 10 seeds, 3) 45 seconds with ten seeds i broke the cycleof heating after thirty seconds and then started them back up for the additional 15 seconds, 4) did it for a full minute with 10 seeds breaking the heating at 30 seconds and then immediatly resatarting it for the remaining 30 seconds. 5) took 10 more seeds and gave em full power for 20 seconds.

none of the microwaved seeds germinated and i broke each group of 10 seeds into 5 sets of seeds each and tried germinating them in my usual way a little light warrior in a small pot and then the other halfs of the sets of ten got AOK rockwool starter cubes by grodan.

i dont have troubel with germinating seeds orpropagating cutts at all.

i put ten seeds in the medium without any pre-germination techniques and get ten sprouts with out a doubt all the time.

but the nuked seeds didn't do nothing but waste 25 AOK plugs and 25 smallpots of light warrior.

i am going to try ten more on 6 power for 45 seconds breaking the heating cycle at 30 secs. and then immediately starting it up for the remaining 15 secs. and try to sprout them in rapid rooters .

but i doubt they will do a thing.

time to close the thread.lol

just remember the power level on a microwave is not a power level at all. the magnetron is either on or its off. the "power level" is a duty cycle. so power of 6 is 60 percent on 40 percent off. the cycle seem to run in increments of a couple seconds. not sure on the exact math the nuker uses to decide when to turn the mag on and off.

I cant believe your gonna do it again. What a waste of seeds!

Surely if you are to repeat the experiment you'd have best chances of getting germination with a much shorter micro-wave cycle i.e 1 or 2 secs.

Good luck, keep us posted!

With all the rules and regulations about being sterile and gentle when popping a bean I dont see how this wouldnt create a stunted sprout that would be stressed beyond belief. I also agree, what a waste of seeds

Good luck
