40% Germ Rate
permalink

Well, I tried to germinate 5 bubbleicious seeds using rockwool plugs. This was my first time using rockwool for germination and my success rate sucked! I went ahead and transferred the two that sprouted into solo hempy cups and put a baggie over them to raise humidity. You don't think it was too soon to put in the solo cups do you?

I think next time I will use the paper towel method and transfer into the rockwool... I don't know.

not enough info.

are the seeds, old.?

but anyhow, straight into soil is what i do, tried most of the average stuff and some of the crazy.not the real crazy stuff though, i havent advanced to that level, the real crazy stuff works best you know, you just have to be crazy enough to to even consider messing with it.

just kidding.

just water with a spreyer. fine mist and lot of it, but not too much, hehe.
just in a cool, dark corner of the veg chamber is where i keep the small 6 inch pots.
papertowel works fine, you just have to watch the waterlevel, towels f*cking dry out fast.

have a good one, kuckerichoo my boo.

straight to soil for me too, just poke my finger into the dirt about up to my first joint and drop the berry in, cover it up and keep it moist (i put a little hydrogen peroxide in the water too). works about 95% of the time. cheers

Well...

Even the two that sprouted aren't doing so well... I think i brought them to the light too quick.. I don't have a pic yet, but the one that was doing well kinda wilted over while I was at work yesterday. So I watered it a little and left the baggie over it, hopefully it survives!

Man, I thought I was better than this.... In order not to waste these seeds I think I'll get one going in soil and use it as a mother. I am afraid if I try the rockwool into hempy, I'll kill my last five seeds. Which are the first seeds I have purchased and I really wanted this to be a good grow.

Thats what I've heard, but to me it seemed like they dried out pretty quick. I did have a small fan blowing, not directly on them but near them? And the heat from the light is not too intense but still maybe I had them a little close for seedlings?

Did you adjust the pH of the rockwool before planting the seeds? You have to soak them for 24 hours in water with a ph of around 5.2 [verify?] in order to adjust the ph of the medium itself.

I always germinate in rockwool. I soak it in water pH'd to 5.3 for twenty four hours, then gently shake out some of the water. Never squeeze rockwool!

Then I put the beans in, cover the hole with a little rockwool cap & set them under a humidity dome on top of a seedling mat. Several days later, I have sprouts.
