i jus had some coco coir layin around, its reptile bedding, it comes in a dry brick when when you soak it in water it expands hella and looks just like dirt. im tryin this as an experiment, and i added some perlite to a couple of them, to see different results, ive tried just straight perlite and had ok results but a couple few days to germ. im tryin to go hydro kinda like the hempy buckets but with this coco coir instead of vermiculite cuz its cheaper and easier to get. im hopein for better results with this new way im tryin. if anyone else has trid this let me know. ill keep my results posted | ||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah man I grow in coco w/ about 15% perlite added...but in a hempy application it might not be the best because of the need for runoff to prevent salt build up. They even make mj nutes specific for coco. I use regular hydro nutes (techniflora), and it works just fine. You can check out my journals in my sig below. There are lots of good threads and post about the use of coco for mh, just use the advanced search, it is not perfect, but it works ok. I thnk Knna has a few good post, so you might want to use that name in your search. Grow on!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think the rule of thumb on the brick stuff is to rinse, rinse, rinse, to make sure all salts are out of it. I use a soilless mix which included coco, is great stuff

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | OLA SmokeyThaBear07, Sounds like a good plan. I would think you could use the Coco Coir in small cups for starter plugs. and the idea of Coco Coir in a IRB/Hempy Bucket is a fine experiment, Please keep us posted as to your results. GROW WELL

), but I rinse it when Im expanding it anyway just in case. It is said that the higher end MJ specific coco does not need to be rinsed as much...but lesser expensive cocos can have salts built up in them and that can cause problems with your grow nute lock out and PH issues...not good at all. Use fresh water, I think about 6X the volume of coco.
