I soak in a glass of tap water on top of my pc monitor for 24 hrs...
At that point most should have cracked and will be showing the start of a tap root...
Any that haven't cracked... I manually crack...
Then they all go into a damp paper towel, in a ziplock baggy and back on top of the monitor... Once I get tap roots aprox 1/4" long they get planted

I cover my seeds with a wet paper towel on a styrafom plate and wrap with saran wrap. Then I leave them in a dark place and check on them a few times a day. After a day or two the seeds start to crack and show the taproot. I then stick them into moist rockwool cubes and place back into the dark until they sprout out of the cubes. As soon as they sprout I stick them under CFL's and water them twice a day until the roots show at the bottom of the cubes, At this point they go into my DWC tubs and are ready to grow.

For what it's worth, I soak them about 24 hrs and plant them with the point up, cracked or not. Then I use a turkey baster and gently wet the soil around them once or twice a day and they usually start sprouting the next day with stragglers out to usually no more than 3 days.

I'm amazed you guys can handle them with things sprouting out of them without breaking anything. Wow.

I do it almost the same way but I soak em in a glass of water for 4-6 hours til they sink, then I put them in the ziplock baggy with the paper towel, either on my cable box or computer to keep them warm. Once they get a taproot, into the ground they go VERY carefully.

For those that plant directly to rockwool, soil, or plugs (w/o presoak, papertowels, etc), how long til you start seeing 'em poke through, on average? Thanks!
