Diesel came from bag seed folks, bag seed are not bad nor are they all hermie.
Exactly!
I don't know why some people frown upon growing bagseed. Its all in how you grow/cure it. Plainsman has a list of things the seeds/weed you get from bagseed usually go through. To have a quality product after that is near impossible with any strain.

I've had seeds that I bought that would not even germinate. Just the other day I threw some bagseed in the paper towel, and its already sprouting under lights.

Also, I think that a gram of weed with only 2-5 seeds in it is most likely a hermie strain. A gram with 20-30 seeds in it is probably pollinated by another male. Just a theory, and it could be either way, but something to think about. You never know until you grow em out though...

G'mornin,

I've never bought seeds from a seed bank either reputable or otherwise in fear of "not getting what I ordered" or "what I get, doesn't germinate" or "the nice DEA guy watches and follows my order to my quiet lil world" ..
The "Trainwreck" I grow came from a friend who stopped by one day to share this awesome smoke he got from a medi grower we know (friend of his). He opened his container and proceded to breakup the bud and low and behold a couple of seeds rolled out onto the table. I looked wide-eyed and asked my first question "What was it crossed with or did it hermy? he didn't know! My second question was "May I could have them to germ, i'll put your name on the strain?? He said sure!
My success rate of female to male ratio from seedlings over the years has been really high leaning more towards the female side - Thank God!!
In 2006 my grow op began growing this awesome trich producing plant called "Trainwreck" and i've been very pleased with its production since and has become one (1 of 6) stables in my variety of Mothers. As a matter a fact, one of the plants harvested from last years grow was my "Elder" Trainwreck first cloned on Sept. 8, 2007 and is happily regenerating in my under desk grow

Personally when I see a bag that has no seeds, then I know that weed was grown near me.

Commercial weed is always full of seeds, farmers just don't bother pulling out the males, plus it increases the overall weight of the finish product.

Getting a bag of some good local weed, with one seed in it, that plant was gone hermie for sure.

Growing bag seed though, usually when it came from good weed is the way to go when starting out.

Yes good genetics help for a more successful grow but mistakes can be very costly when each seed is around 10 dollars and you're going to throw some out (males) making the remaining seeds even more expensive per.

IMO a new grower always should start from bag seed, cause its free and plentiful to get.

Luke, not necessarily a hermie, when a female plant is let to over-flower, meaning you let the plant flower 2-3 weeks after all tritches are amber that plant will make couple of seeds trying to self pollinate it self to preserve its strain, and those seeds are fems for sure.

My creepys when they passed 14 weeks of 12/12 always have giving me couple seeds on the top of the cola, and they were always fems, I grew all of them.

There's some weird comments in here, the proper commercial growers will almost always pull the males...Almost always grow from clones actually...Why would they risk pollenation?

I always grow from bag seed, in my experience, the rare seed I find in commercial indica strains is almost always hermie, sometimes a lot hermie, sometimes hardly any.
But when you can find some nice sativa with seed, it's mostly fifty fifty male/female, very little hermie sativa seed, I think it comes down to back yarders growing sativas and the "big boys" growing cloned indicas.

Around here seedy weed is nearly worthless, I dunno what you guys are buying, but it sounds like your being scammed!

how many big growers do you actually know?

commercial grow ops are giant farms in mexico...generally. they grow whatever, dont have the time to cull males or grow from clones. they are ran like FARMS. not grow houses.

few impoverished farmers have clone sowing machines.... but sowing seed is easy.

I was about to ask him the same thing.

Most commercial weed that makes it to US its from Mexican farms, and yes they do just throw seeds, no cloning there, who tha hell will sit and take 10.000 clones?
imaging how many mother plants you need and the crew to do it.

Commercial grows start with a dozen Mexicans walking the field planting seeds for two days.
Whatever grows will be sold, males/females and some vegetables too.
All will get bricked and smoked by fine American folk, mostly.

It will be funny though watching a bunch of Mexicans running through acres of mj trees looking for balls to kill the males.

Believe it or not, not everyone lives in america. Here in australia, commercial usually means some vietnamese guy filling a house with skunk clones and hid's. skunk rules the roost, Poor quality weed just won't sell...Even top shelf sativa is hard to get rid of.

...So how many big growers, (Mexicans), do YOU know?

...So why bother buying shitty, seedy brick weed??
