![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 1 inch is longer than most knowledgeable people on this site would advise (btw-I don't consider myself one of those knowledgeable people, but I've been researching the shit out of this). The longer the root is, the higher the chance of it getting damaged and screwing up the grow. Remember, the tap root is VERY sensitive and should not be touched. On 4-9 I used the paper towel, inside a DVD case, on top of a cable box method and 48 hours later I had a very small root (probably less than 1/4"). Moved that to prepped soil under a single CFL and on 4-13 I had a healthy green sprout. 96 hours from dry seed to green plant. I don't see any reason to wait for the root to grow 1" - that thing wants to be in the earth. | ||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ive noticed that the longer i wait to put a tapped seed into soil the more issues i have with it. If you are germinating in papertowel they are more than likely going to have started growing into it by that point and stand a good chance of getting hurt while your trying to disect to get them out of there. I with Illegal-Seed 100%. I use peat pellets now to avoid the entire step of guesswork, but when i was using the napkin method to crack beans I always put them into some soil as soon as i saw the tip of a taproot showing. ![]()
