Is it alright to transplant a few days after it sprouted?
permalink

I sprouted this bagseed i got from my buddy's grow and it's been a about 4 or 5 days. The seed sprouted and is now about 2-3 inches tall with only the 2 fake leaves and 2 serrated leaves. Would it be alright if i transplant it outside into my spot even though it's so young? Also the nights still sometimes get down to 40 degrees farenheit. Would this be to rough for the little guy?

IMO leave it longer and let it get stronger before you put it outside. The temps need to warm up too.

OMG, no! Whatever you do, DON"T transplant it. LOL

just be careful with the roots and like Mrs Cheese stated, I would wait until the night temps get a bit warmer. There are some folks that put their pots outside during the day and move them inside at night until temps warm up.

What if you have a cold frame or hoop house set up... would 40's at night be to much for small potted plants?

Good mid morning,

Please make sure to also remember to "harden" them lil ones off before just leaving them out there in the big wild world..
Set outside in a shady spot away from direct sun for an hour or so a day for a couple of days to allow the young seedlings to acclimate to the outside enviroment.
I'd also wait until the seedling showed a node or two worth of true leaf pairs before transplanting, actually depending on what size starter containers your using you could wait til they have grown a few nodes tall to transplant. But be careful moving from indoors under artificial lights to outside under the much stronger natural sunlight.

Good luck

well ive sprouted my plants by the sunlight during the day and brought them inside during the night, so i think they will already be hardened to the sun. they are in some soil in a plastic cup.

the thing is i live at an apartment and dont want anyone to notice a marijuana plant sitting in my window. It is only getting 45 at night maybe once a week, the rest is 50s and 60s. I dont care if it will stunt the growth i just am wondering if it will kill it? Because i would rather have it slow growth for a few weeks then to get caught. Should i wait until it gets the next set of leaves?

wait till they have full 5 bladed leaves or higher to put them out.

i have 3 clones out the past 2 weeks. they havent grown much due to 50 degree nights, but they are alive and well. if it gets to below 40, id bring em in.

The plant will live if you can control the environment a little bit. When I set my plants out early I place a 1gal milk jug with the bottom cut out over them. It softens the sun and most of all protects them from the wind. It also raises the humidity, a real good thing. I keep them on until I get 4 or 5 true leaves, trying to do all I can to promote ladies.
Good Luck with your grow. peace
