Germed 10 BBXNL seeds Thursday midnight for a first grow attempt. I really thought I would kill the first few attempts so while I was putting forth an honest effort I expected these seeds would be little more than a germination “what not to do". But, Today I have 10 little babies - 3 of them have their 1st set of serrated leaves appearing. Cool (and terribly exciting) but I also thought I would have more time in the rockwool cubes before roots started showing outside. I lifted the individual cubes this morning and 6 of them have 3 to 4 inches of root wrapping around the outside of the RW or growing through the bottom of the germination tray into the propagation tray below. I freaked out a bit because I wasn't expecting this to happen so fast. lol Apparently I didn't read as well as I thought I did. My solution was to fill the propagation try with 2 inches of shredded pH'd rockwool and "plant" the cubes in there to keep the roots covered. I divided the plants with plastic to try to keep the roots from mingling but I don't think this will actually work because they can easily grow through to the other plants via the reservoir grooves in the tray. They are under 2 4 foot (daylight/5000k) fluros at 10 inches right now. Temp is 77 and humidity is 65 (I took the humidome off). Here's the dilemma: The next move is to ebb/grow and 1000w MH. Should I leave them as they are and make the move in about 10 days like I had planned? Should I go get larger 4-6 inch RW cubes and move them into those? Should I move the fluro over to the ebb/grow and go ahead and put them in and switch to MH when they get stronger?..... Is it okay that after many months of reading I still don't know my ass from a hole in the ground? ![]() They are pretty little things though... I'm already feeling all maternal and shit. ![]() Last edited by Ganja Patiwan; 06-15-2009 at 02:34 PM.. Reason: Spellcheck

![]() | Just an update..... The move went well. I started the light at 4 feet and moved down to 2 feet over 3 days. I was really scared I was going to fry them. I was worried for nothing. You were right, they love the light. Everybody faired well except one little baby. I broke it's tap root and while it didn't die, it did stop growing. I decided to just take it out and move on. I got a little stretching with the light up so high - but not much and we now have the second set of leaves coming in. Thanks again for the advice!
