When it comes to germination and sprouting ... I like to cheat!

Below is my method of germination and sprouting:

1) I germinate in paper towel ... because I like to peek at their progress And ... because I grew tired of planting dud seeds and wasting time and valuable space. In this case ... it is 3 feminized K-Train (Kush x Trainwreck) seeds from Greenhouse Seeds. I place the seeds inside the moist paper towel and then place them into a baggie. The baggie then goes onto the modem (cable box) for 24- 72 hours to help keep the seeds warm.

2) After you see tap roots emerging (at least 1/4 inch in length)... it is time for the next step.

3) At this point, most growers drop the whole seed into their medium and hope for the best. I cheat a bit I see no reason to force the plant to grow through the medium to reach the light.

4) So, very carefully ... I gently place the seed (tap root down) into the moist rockwool cube (soil, coco, whatever) ... being sure to leave the seed above "ground".

5) Using a little bit of extra rockwool ... I gently fill the hole surrounding the sensitive tap root.

6) She looks happy in her new home

7) Repeat on all of your germinated seeds

8) Place seeds and cubes into humidity dome for 48 hours. It is important to keep the humidity high for these 48 hours. The high humidity helps to soften the shell surrounding the seedling so that the plant can shuck it's shell easily. If humidity is low, you may need to aid the plant in ridding itself of the shell. A little vegetarian-cesarian ... so to speak If that is the case, I very carefully remove the shell ... being sure not to cut, crush or bruise the stem.

9) After 24 hours, the seedlings are stretching for the light ... but still wearing their crash helmets

10) After another 24 hours, they all have lost their helmets and are ready for their new permanent home

I have never lost a germinated seed using this method.

Hope this helps someone get through those tenuous early stages of growing

Good Luck, Good Growing ... and Happy Germinating

Maven

marijuana stretches like that after cracking through the seed to help push the plant through the soil or whatever medium your using... so its not exatly stretching for light... they all do that... tahts why to my knowlegde you usually plant MJ seeds a little deeper than your ordinary run of the mill flower seeds...so when they do their stretch, they break soil growing at a normal height... but if you have never lost a sprout using this method, keep it up!!... i know i'm actually gunna start usuing your method!!

I pretty much use this same method except I do it a little faster having the seedling in a plantable pot within 3days.. next it goes directly in the soil pot.
