and we worry often about seeds not coming up..

about a month and a half ago, maybe longer, i put down some seeds, some didnt come up.

a week ago i just cut off a top (accident, sniff) so i decided to clone it, took a pot that allready had some dirt in it,cut off the top of a 2l bottle, made a cut in the top, wet the pot, voila mini clone factory.

anyway, that was a pot with a seed in it, that i thought unviable, waited 2 weeks on that thing, finally just let it dry out.

well today when i checked the clone, there was the seedling a lovely sativa looking babygirl. (child of a hermie, havent gotten this generation to hermie again though, im bit sad, wanted more seeds)

a seed that had dried out, only thing new was, im sure the temps were at least 30c tonight, maybe 35c and i just wetted the clone pot again yesterday.

it really had jumped up. bit stretched since very little light. but looking good, perhaps a bit damage on one leave, probably because of excessive humidity in the clonepot.

nice! i was just thinking about puting down some seeds

The AOSA, which is in the business of establishing testing methods for seedlabs for %germination, etc, has an entry in their species database which is located here:

http://www.aosaseed.com/docs/070426_..._plus_adds.pdf

Under cannabis spp the number of days before the initial count of sprouted seeds is done at 5 days. The final count is done at 20 days.

Under Cannabis indica the 1st count isn't done before 7 days and the last count not done until 21 days.

A lot of posts would lead you to believe that seeds are popping in 1, 2, 3 days -- and this has been true in many cases for myself, so don't doubt it. But at the same time, don't freak if they don't pop right away.

Just sayin' -CR

Hey Sso,

FWIW - last year I germed 6 seeds. After 5 days five seeds had popped out of the solo cups and one didn't. I put the one that didn't off to the side, and turned off the lights in the closet (since it was only being used for germming).

A week later, after sitting in the dark, not really heated, and the soil getting quite dry, I happened to open the closet and.. volia.. a little runt of a plant growing.

That sure taught me something about how hardy da herb is.

Peace.

I've been waiting 10days for 4 seeds to pop up but nothing. I'm ready to give up.

Old seeds?
Check temperature. Make sure it's warm enough.
Humidity? Is it high enough, like 70%
Moisture? If using paper towel, are they moist but not dripping wet?
If planting seeds directly in medium, did you plant them no deeper than 1/2 inch?

Good luck.

Threw a whole bunch of ak's and bubblegums in soil two weeks ago and nothing

I'm ready to throw the towel on them.

Blaming it on my storage habits, maybe a bit too hot for them.

i guess 3 weeks is about max though to wait.

i wouldnt be surprised if some popped in that time.

i like the papertowel method for those longtimers. usually in 2 weeks all the unviable ones have rotted and you can squeeze them and see it was empty or mostly.

i have had seeds pop up quite a bit after the 2 week mark, i cant remember how much more, but im sure it was at least 2 weeks and some days. maybe closer to the 3 weeks, its been awhile.

Directly into soil, covered with a plastic cup as a dome. Temps between 75-85 in cab. dropped a few more yesterday. These seeds are a few years (3-5) old and have been in the original packaging (some sealed completely) in a drawer in my home office. Pretty constant temps.

This is the part I hate the most. Did notice my Dutch Passion Blueberry seeds were very small. I'm suspecting these weren't a very good batch. I'm to the point where I'm so frustrated that I'll go thru every stinkin seed I have and order more if necessary.

I'm just wondering if this is a common problem with seeds from seed banks?

I think most seeds from good banks (Dr chronic, attitude, herbies..etc) will send replacements.

I always save my emails from orders in case I get some bad germs.
