| I'm a first time grower but I've read a lot about how to grow. Since its my first time I decided to just put my seeds in moist soil. I planted 5 seeds. I put them in plastic 8-ounce drinking cups with store bought soil and moistened the soil with sterilized water. I put 2 seeds in one cup and 3 in another. I don't think all 5 seeds with germinate anyway. I want to try to grow the plants to about 3 feet before putting them on a 12/12 light/dark cycle. I was wondering how big of a growing medium I would need for this. Any other growing tips for a firsttime grower would be a great help. Thanks ![]() -Demon53 [This message has been edited by Demon53 (edited June 03, 2000).] | ||

| So far so good. Except, what will you do if all five seeds DO sprout? I did something kind of like you and i got a one hundred percent germenation rate. Course I bought my seeds, where did you get yours? If it was bag seeds, then maybe your better off putting them all together like that. Course never hurts to becarful. The minimum grow space you want for a three foot plant......I'm not sure. I think a 4'x 4' will do just fine. Thats just for one plant though. the last thing i think you would want to do is crowd your plants. The more room they have to grow the better. GOOD STUFF ![]() | ||

![]() | I like to use 1x1x1 foot per plant, and they really grow big. You can grow a few plants in a small space, but after a while, only the strong ones will be growing (nature ).I noticed than when this thing happens, a few ones just stop growing, staying very small but healthy (of course i intend to keep them!). Ps.forgot to mention that transplanting is a pain in the ass( you have to mess a lot with the roots) but they tend to survive anyway ...Also, the ones that were not groing, start groing like mad once they have room... Can you imagine a 20 weeks plant with 20 cm ![]() wolfman[This message has been edited by wolfman (edited June 04, 2000).]

| Just to let you know, the seeds I planted were just seeds that I picked out of my bag. I don't expect all of them to sprout because they are baggie seeds. I wanted to buy some high quality seeds but since its my first time, and I'm only 15 I didn't want them to go to waste if I killed them or something; plus I wouldn't know where to buy seeds except online; and I don't want to take the risk or getting caught or being ripped off. Thanks for the help WolfMan & ILOVEBUD ![]() -Demon53 | ||

| uh, i have a pretty simmilar situation. i just tried growing some seeds of some pretty good sheeit that i picked out of the bag. i mean, they looked alright, but they aren't growing. i am not sure whether or not they are just bad bag seeds, or whether the fact that i planted them in straight guano with normal tap water has anything to do with it. probably does. i have waited a week, so i am guessing that they are dead seeds, otherwise they woudl be growing now. plus i even took a seed out and tried to germinate it in a straight water (no fertilizer) and papertowel set up and nothing happened though i left the seed there for 5 days. uh, since this is more a question of "am i doing this right?", i kind of need some pointers on what i am doing right/wrong. i posted this here casue i didn't want to start a new thread. alright, later. | ||

Guano works great as a fert, but a germinating plant will need some decomposed organics (dirt) to help it grow. -War
