how long is too long for the root tip to be what length is ideal before planting thanks

Well, I don't think it can be too long, as long as it's alive. But I wouldn't push your luck..... If it's popped out & about 1//8 to 1/4 long, I plant it shallow (like 1/4 under the soil/medium. The longer you wait, the more chance you have of damaging the root when planting & roots don't like light. Good luck. lil
