I am new to this growing thing, and i have tired with 8 seeds and only got one to sprout. I have tired the water in glass with 4 seeds, no work. I tired the wet papertowel in 2 tupperware plates in the closet and i only got 1. (BTW, i feel like a big daddy, i pay attention to my lil sproutling atleast 3 times a night, lol) I had another one start to make a lil white root, but i accidently squeezed it when i was moving him and well... he squirted white goo poor lil guy.I just put the papertowel method on a computer case in my closet and left it there... is that correct? Are my seed poo? I put the seeds in regular water in the dark... Am I doing this stuff right, because I was so happy when my first one sprouted. BTW, if i am going to ask all the questions i have. Can you grow in straight Vermiculite? I have more then i could ever use, but i am just curious if its ok or will it drian to fast. Thanks, VermGuy

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well, I don't know. Hmm... What kind of seeds you using? Bagseed or genetics? Are all the seeds you're using from the same source? What are the temps when you are germinating? Room temp should be fine (mid 70-80). I have never used my computer for germinating but off hand I would be worried the heat is too much. I see a lot of people doing it on here though, so what do I know. ![]() I use the cup of water method myself with great success. Put a cup of tepid water with the seeds in it in the cupboard, wait 12-36 hours and presto. Germinated seeds. My tap water is pretty good though, comes out with a ph of 7 and no excess chemicals. I would bet on bunk seeds and I empathize with you. Frustrating as hell when you can't even get started. Don't let the insecurity get you down. Seeds are pretty simple, if you quit squeezing the stuffing out of them when they root. ![]() If you are having wholesale problems germinating it is either seeds, temperature or medium. I am a soil grower who tends to use perlite, not vermiculite but I do use it for cloning. Look up Lilbuddie's latest cloning guide in the propagation forum of the library to see the method. Also check out the hydro forum to see if anyone has talked about vermiculite as a medium. ![]() Coarse grade vermiculite I believe would be better than the fine stuff. With the fine grade, it is real hard not keeping them too wet. Hope this helps, and welcome to Hempcultivation.com. ![]() Good growing, Plains Last edited by plainsman1963; 08-26-2003 at 02:01 PM.. | ||

![]() | around here, our water is VERY soft with the pH and Alk both off the chart high... easily 8.4+ should i lower the pH down? all my seeds are from just swag i got. Sad to say but i figured i i shouldnt spend alot of money on seeds when this is my first time. Who knows, maybe if i treat my lil Mexican brick weed well, it will turn out better then what i got before I couldnt see my self spending hard earned money on expnesive seeds when i just squish them ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | you need some liquid "ph down" which you add to your water or there are soil amendments that lower the ph for you. There are a couple doo dads on the market that test the soil ph, and you should be able to find them at any small nursery or local grocery store that has a nursery ![]()
