savage_one is starting to vegetate.

The cup o water method worked wonders for me. I used natural spring water and some 3% H202, I would say more then a quarter but less then half.

Anyways after about 18 hrs all seeds had cracked, and another half day they all had good sized tap-roots. The H202 really helps, but natural spring water doesn't hurt either

i tried this method after failing at the paper towel one, and another i had seen requiring a sponge...anywho i think my first one germinated today, but do i wait until the white tap root is fully out or just plant it as soon as i can see it?

Safety

It's safest to plant it after its cracked. A long tap root is very delicate, so if it's left a bit long, just be very gentle and only touch the shell...I just drop mine in the medium after 24hrs in plain water. No more needed than that really..

Saxman, they're in a heated dome at 23C so theres no temperature worries this end. True changing the water would be ideal if sitting for a length of time, but don't normaly wait long enough to worry about the water change.
It turns out the White Russians may have had an inherant problem although this is yet to be confirmed. I wouldn't want anyone thinking Serious have a problem with their seeds, it may have been a transit and/or storage problem between them and me. Anyway, they're replacing what I lost.

I wait for a tap root that's at least the length of the shell. I never touch the tap root and in fact, only touch the shell with sterilized tweezers. I think it may be going too far, but as in the case of the White Russians, I have no need to put myself at fault

Metal_God is beginning to sprout.

Well guys, i planted those seeds that had germinated i think 2 days ago, just now i saw my first sprout, its very tiny and it had a seed still on it, i had remembered someone mentioning a simple snap and pull procedure so i did it to the seed and hopefully everything goes fine, however the sprout is entirely white, is this already bad?

I don't know what this snap and pull procedure is about? But when you say all white, do you mean the root?

Hmm..this method of germination is quite interesting.

I think I might be a good candidate for it...I've been worried about the fact that my stoner mind of mine will let me forget to moisten the paper towels.

I'm going to look into this a bit more.

Thanks for the nice thread!
