hello again, i was just wondering if rooting hormone helps germination. i just germed 4 bag seeds and put root hormone powder on the wet paper towel so that the seeds were covered in it. they sprouted over night when usually it takes 3 or 4 days

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | might depend on the rooting hormone. Generally rooting hormone is just sugars and micronutrients , stuff for the plant to feed on. It probably would help young seedlings But some brands, might kill them ![]() -AB

![]() | Using some very dilute liquid seaweed/kelp solution would be beneficial though. This will provide a source of micro nutrients, amino acids, vitamins and plant growth hormones. It is exceedingly mild on the plants and is a natural growth stimulant. Roots love this stuff and it really gives plants an energizing kick. Plus, seaweed is great for soaking your seeds in before germination & is also good for foliar feeding at all stages of growth.

I germed some seeds once (schwagg bagg seed, thankfully) and after soaking them in water overnight, I rolled them in Green Light powdered rooting hormone. Looking at them as I was putting them into the paper towel, I thought there wasn't enough hormone on them, so I dusted the paper towel lightly also. Towel in a baggie, baggie in a metal cd case, case on the VCR... two days pass. Out of ten seeds, only 2 grew enough to plant, and they later died; the other eight sprouted some roots but they rotted (stinksss!). Hell, if some was good, more MUST be better! I won't state the hormone was definately responsible for the horrible outcome, but I have never repeated this since. I usually put some seaweed extract in the water I soak the seeds in, and moisten the paper towel with the same water. Keep it Green!!!
