![]() | Hi everyone, i am a new grower and a pretty burnt one as well. I really want to produce a plant. The method of germination i decided to pick was to place the seed in a cup filled half-way up with room temperature water in a dark area and leave the seed in there til it germinates?.....i have done my research and read MANYYYYYY websites and half say it will work, and half say it won't. please let me know if this method will work. also, the seed sunk to the bottom, does this mean anything? RESPOND! peace out keep smokin', chokin', and tokin'

![]() | That's what I'm doing as I type. Several sites say to soak for 12 hours then plant, other sites don't mention it at all. Because of time issues, I'm going to have to let them soak for at least 22 hours. I'll tell you what happens in a few days.

![]() | I have been soaking it so far for about 24 hours. I havent really seen any dramatic changes except for a little air-bubble forming on top of the seed. i took a pair of Tweezers and i moved the seed up and down and the air-bubble still stayed with the seed. I hope this is a sign of the seed crackin and rooting. I will keep you updated daily and thanx for replying. keep smokin', chokin', and tokin' peace out

![]() | if the seed sinks it is a good thing i think, because i know for a fact the with tree seeds and herbal seeds your suposed to let em soak for 2-3 days, they say to disregard the ones that float and to plant the ones that sink. they also say that it speeds up the germination method when they are planted if they are soaked in water 2-3 days prior to planting! why wouldnt it be the same for mj seeds. -drag

![]() | Wait til roots develop. *sigh* I really should have, but I wanted to get it done today. That way, you can see which way to plant. Also, if you don't have a spray bottle, water the soil _before_ you plant the seeds *sheepish grin*. Luckily, I still have six seeds to work with if these four don't sprout, which they probably won't. Ah well, I have learned from my mistakes...although that mistake did cost $16.

One out of four sprouted! I must admit, I'm surprised. I thought I had botched the whole lot. Well, that one sprouted plus 3 out of 4 of the seeds I had germinating in a paper towel have grown roots. Thumbs up for the paper towel method.

![]() | You can use the cup of water, but you need to be sure to get the seed out within the right amount of time. Once it sinks, it has absorbed water into the seed, losing it's buoyancy. The problem with that is that it also needs oxygen, which isn't available in water. I find that the wet paper towel method is best. Keep the seeds in a wet paper towel, and then seal that in a tupperware. The high humidity allows the seed to take up water, and also allows it to get oxygen for respiration. Some tree seeds need to be soaked to ensure that water enters the seed. MJ is a little more forgiving in that the seeds will germinate in a less aquatic environment. I haven't ever had a problem with the paper towel, and putting in on top of my refrigerator seems to give a good warm temp.

![]() | Yes, putting your seeds in warter for 48 hours is a really good thing. use this simple setup for optimum sprouting. you need: 1. a heating blanket 2. a large plate 3. small plate 4. seeds, papertowls and water PROCEDURE First take the heating blanket and put it in a dark place laying flat. PLug it into a socket that can be used for 2 days. put the large plate on the heating blanket right side up. .fill the plate with enough water to cover the whole base of the plate. take the paper towel and fold it in 1/2 3 times then soak it in water. put your seeds on the wet paper towel and fold it in half again. now put it in the center of the large plate. cover it with small plate face down. THis procedure optimises the sprouting. Another handy feature about this is its self watering. SINcerly The WiZaRd
