my soil is 50/50 top soil and perlite.

but i think after i water the first time before planting the seed i should loosen the soil before planting. the watering seems to compact the soil.

Hi Phylis:

That's a good idea.
The looser the soil, the better.

Good Luck.

Great guide Agent86! I just lost three seeds by overwatering, so I'm going follow your guide exactly!

Hi Everybody:

I was just curious to see if anyone has used my guide to germinate their seeds.
If you have, let me know how things went.

Thanks.

Dang man, I can't thank you enough for this (I suppose I could try but its neither the place nor the time)

Anyhow, I just germinated my freebie Sk1 seeds from SD using precisely your method. Got two large, solid ceramic plates of the same size. Stacked about 8-10 paper towels on top of each other and cut the pile to fit seamlessly onto the plate (no hangovers ;p). Then I halved the stack and moistened the bottom. Gently, I shook the seeds out of their baggie onto the papers and covered them with the remaining towels. Moistened the remaining towels just enough to be resistive to the touch. Then I popped it onto my electric blanket (the one your aunt gives you at your wedding ;\). After the first 12 hours I opened it up to let in a bit of O2. Today, (after a total of 24 hours) I opened the plates and found my 'cheap and reject' skunks gasping for oxygen.

That's right, using Agent's guide the seeds popped in < 24 hours. Flawless and simple . I'll let them sit for another 12 hours then remove them and give them a new home in their plastic cups.

Thanks a mil for this guide Agent, it takes out that looming feeling germination has a way of giving me ;\

Thanks for responding guys.

That's awesome that you both had success using the guide.
I'm glad I have been able to contribute something to HC.com, that will make it simple & easy to start off our favorite hobby.

Later Guys.

If my method (very similar to this, but without that many paper towels) has failed, can I take them out and begin with your method? Some of my seed were successful, but some did nothing. Please advise. Thanks.
