![]() ![]() | First time poster. Just wanted to say that I'm learning a lot from this site. Agent 86, I followed your guide to germination and three days later, I'm happy to announce that all four were successful. Thanks! This site is bound to helping through my entire first grow (and hopefully many more.)

Welcome to HC.com. You'll find a wealth of information hear. The new library forum has what some of us feel, the best info from the site. It's a really good place to look for many questions you'll end up having. You'll also find most of the members will be more than willing to help you out. I'll be watching for your grow journal. You will be starting one, won't you????? BTW: Congratulations on the sprouts. Good luck with your grow. Later. 86.

![]() | Should be renamed to Marc Emerys guide to successful germination. He's the one who came up with all of 86's ideas. Check out www.cannabisculture.com. naughty naughty

![]() | Right. I for one am greatful 86 took the time to post a high success method of germination. I could care less who invented it and 86 never made that claim anyway. Besides its not exactly rocket science. Its not too hard to imagine two seperate people coming up with the same method independently. More information is good and the more details the better. - Roho

![]() | I do have one question 86. You start your plants under weak lighting and then switch to stronger lighting right? Is this really necessary? Have you ever tried just dropping them right under the veg lighting right away? The reason I'm wondering is that the faq at world wide seed says explicitly to do it your way but both Ed Rosenthall and a lot of other people on threads I've read on here say they put them under the bright lights right away and claim they have no problems doing it that way. When I tried putting them under bright lights right away (on a bag seed and now one of my good seeds) I had catastrophic failure. I'm not sure if the light caused the problem though or something else did. I didn't even try to germinate the seeds. I just soaked them in a glass for 12 hours, planted them and then switched on the lights 8 hours later. Other people claim great sucess with this method but I used a very large pot and I suspect I let the soil dry out too much, though it always stayed slightly wet on the surface. Maybe I was too paranoid about over watering them or maybe it really was the light. Who knows? The top part of the soil does dry out pretty fast with a 1kW HPS and four fans blowing. Anyway, this time I plan on following your instructions to the letter. The problem is though that I only have one light (a 1kW HPS). I only plan on growing one plant. (I figure if I get a boy I'll just start over) and I hate to go spend more money on flourescent , or some other low wattage lights. Guess I will if I have to though as I don't want to take a chance on killing another one. Any advice about this would be greatly appreciated. Could I just maybe set them by a window till they get their first full set of leaves? Got my plates on the VCR right now.... Thanks, -Roho

I was just rereading this thread & noticed something that needs to be changed. I originally said to plant your seedligs in miracle grow soil. Don't do that. Use a non ferted soil mixed 50/50 with perlite. I learned this one the hard way. Your seedlings can't take the ferts that are in MG soil at that young an age. Later, 86. ![]()
