I haven't been growin for long but the easiest and most effective way I've found for germinating seeds is by using moist and warm cotton. I was wonderin if you guys who tried it think it's think its the best way too. Or if you know of any problems with it?

peace & chill,

The best methods for germination that i know so far is either soil or rockwool, the worst is in water; Paper towells and cotton are near the worst one, to many chances of damaging the sedings, i would never use it

Hope this helps changing the way you see it...

Dont be confused, i always try different methods and usually succeed, my very first set of germinating seeds was made in a pop bottle, which i cut the top off and placed the sippin part at the bottom of the bottle pointed up, and placed cotton all the way around the funel of the top, see the picture? then watered"tap water" from the drinking hole until the cotton started wetting, and placed the seeds on the cotton, slightly pushed in the cotton like 1\8th inch. and kept an eye on it every 6 hours, and added more tap water as needed to keep moist and still see shells, so that they areated and keep moist at the same time.

This is my own favorite own created method that i am now sharing with you and damn it works everytime at a high percentage of succesfull sprouts.

As far as handling the sprouts seedlings, i let them grow till the first one reaches 1" in length, then i wash my hands real good and carefully grab and place the seedlings in whatever medium, make sure u dig very small holes in the presoaked medium whether its rockwool, soil, vermiculite, perlite mix. this is the way I germinate man!

so many paper towel methods out there work.. u just have to think ahead and what kind of environment its in just like a flowering plant.
Place a quad folded paper towel on a plate, then add a very mild rooting solution and, maybe a lil bleach for fungus\bacteria prevention, i am testing right now will know in a few days. just set the seeds on top of the paper towel, then place a "nose" tissue, or toilet paper square on top of seeds, cover with another plate upside down, check on it regularly "every 3-4 hours" make sure it is kept nice and misty moist.

For soil, never use a big container for germination.. i use cup size pots for several seeds and keep humid, plant the seed 1\4 inch deep, keep humid, and covered.

You can also buy from small to large germinating trays that come with short and\or tall clear domes with or without holes, the one without holes is best for germinating seeds, the one with holes "the taller one i believe" is mainly used for the young seedlings, and helps to develop young leaves and roots. u can also use any sort of medium with these trays. they are very nifty. u can also get 2 to 4 inch deep trays with or without holes, and a flat tray to place under the trays with the holes.

*always store in a constant warm place 'not hot'*

Peace out
