Ok.. I tried planting 72 seeds in JIffy Pellets even after reading that theyre not too good for growing in.. Why arent they? I also tried planting about 45 in Miracle grow potting mix all in 2 inch pots. I have germinated all of them before planting.. I soaked them in damp paper towels with an extremely diluted water and schults root stimulator. I left them in that until i saw the seed open and let out the white tip, i didnt know how long to wait afterwards so i just went ahead and planted them after the tip barely stuck out of the seed. Did i do something wrong? Its been about 6 or 7 days since i planted them.. Should i just wait a little bit longer? The seeds are from some a bag of high grade kb, and i think the seeds are ok for planting since they did germinate and stuff... Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Its been aproximately 6 days including today (March 26th)

Ill keep everyone posted on when they come up and all that good stuff...

I read in one of the erowid.com's growing guides that jiffy #7 suck for growing in and stunts the growth.. I dont think they do.. But if it really does, why?? I cant find any reason why they would suck.. I mean theyre made for growing plants in arent they??

Ok lets see if we can find where your problem is!! Are you keeping them watered? Have you got them where the heat is between 80 and 90 degrees? I am not sure what the appropriate temp is but i know that should be accurate I know that they need to be moist at all times, at least till they come up. Let me know and we will go from there

I have never used the jiffy setup for germination so i really have no idea whats the down sides to it

The temperatur in the area im growing in is about 76 degrees to around 80 degrees.. i guess if i need to i can put a heating pad under it. Its in a plastic greenhouse so its always moist and stuff... Im not using jiffy pellets for germinating them i already germinated them in a paper towel soaked with water and a very diluted solution of schults root stimulator.. I've taken apart about 2 of the pellets to check if theres any type of roots and it looks the same as it did when i planted them a few days ago.

Put a heating pad on medium below the indoors greenhouse jiffy thing... got an electronic thermometer in there measuring the heat at 85.9 degrees. Before the heating pad the soil was very cold and it didnt really occur to me that that might be whats preventing it from sprouting.. I'm still not sure if it is. But now the soil is lukewarm when i touch it and i hope itll sprout some time soon, ill keep posting and stuff.....

This website rules man.. now all they need is a bong and pipe making section! (already sugested it)

Id recommend just planting them in soil carefully making sure theyre point up. bury in half inch soil and water just keep in somewhere warm like above a lamp and make sure its moist. This seems simple enough and worked for me

With the temp just now getting to spring levels you may have 5-10 days. I've had seeds that were directly planted take 15 days to sprout. A lot of that depends on how deep they are and the genetics of the plant.

When planting seeds directly the point goes down. This is where the taproot emerges. If it is point up it's not a problem, the root will curl around and straighten itself out. Gravity is a force that takes care of all the earths creatures.

Jiffy pots can be bad because the peat tends to get acidic. It's not a problem as long as you know it is a possibility and watch for it.

Smiles,
BD

Im still gonna give em until 4/20 before i officially give up on them. Theyre easy to tend to and stuff since theyre in the mini greenhouse, so i dont really have to water them but every 5 or 10 days... Got about 100 watts of flourous sitting above them, they'll come.. 72 planted, ones bound to sprout.
