![]() ![]() | I'm extremely satisfied with my germination (19 of 20 in 4 days), so I figured I would pass on my method: I soaked the beans in a 20oz cup of distilled water for 12 hours in a dark closet at 70 degrees. 19 floated, and one sank. None sprouted. I then placed each seed into a 20oz cup with holes in the bottom, containing 25% sphagnum moss, 25% compost, 25% pearlite and 25% vermiculite. It also had a very small amount of those poly water saving beads and lime that came with my bagged compost. I pre-moistened the soil and planted the seeds by poking a hole with a pencil about an inch deep in the soil. Then, using a tweezer, I put a seed into each hole and covered them up. I kept the soil moist below the surface (but NOT wet) for 3 days and kept them under my grow lamp at about 80 degrees. To my surprise 19 of 20 were up after 4 days. Oh, and the single sinker was one of the ones that sprouted. After sifting through dirt of the unsprouted one, I couldn't even find the seed. I'm thinking its probably because it stuck to the tweezers that I used to drop it in the hole, and probably ended up on the floor somewhere without me knowing it. I've read mixed reviews about using bleach as UncleBen suggests, so I avoided its use to kill fungus myself. I do credit him as one of the people I borrowed germination ideas from though. Good luck! Well they popped out of the ground like I said a couple of days ago. They grow a little bit each day and they are now all like 2 inches tall with 2 of those catyledons (not sure how to spell) and two 1" long leaves. Some have a second set of leaves growing too. I did end up killing one of them though... down to 18... I cracked a stem accidentally. MJ abuse! I'll be more careful in the future. Anyway, I'm keeping them under 24/0 light for the first couple of weeks, then I'm going to a 20/4 cycle to promote root growth after a short stint at 12/12 to pre flower and sex. I have watered them only once since I planted the seeds. It was this morning. I used a light mix of 1/4 tsp of 30-10-10 Peter's solulable in a gallon of H20. I used one 20oz cup of mixed H20 to water the 18 - 20oz cups that I have my 18 plants in. All in all they are looking great for my first grow. Tryin like hell not to over water/fert. Its so tempting to want to spoil them! Thanks for the birthday wish SFL420. I had a blast even though I couldn't hook up for any weed. I ended up smoking a 1/2" round resin ball with my girlfriend. It lasted forever, but tasted like hell. That's why I'm growin man... tired of counting on shady dealers. Anyway... a great birthday. Sex, Drugs, Rock and Roll, Alcohol, Cigarettes, Strippers, Voyeurism, Exhibitionism, Hot tubs and a multitute of other things that constituted a gread b-day! Peace, Born420 | ||
