(this is my first post.....and first time growing )
I love all you guys, first of all, and this forum has taught me everything - EVERYTHING- on growing - except I have this one question :

I had 2 plastic ziplock bags with wet paper towels folded over about 7 seeds in each. About 4 or 5 sprouted in each with like, 1/2' to 1' stems (stems right?) so I decided that I would put the best looking sprouts into 5 6.5' pots, and 7 in about a 2 foot by 1 foot rectangular spot in my enclosed backyard. (the whole I dug is about 2inches deep) And I filled it with gardening soil. I then watered both the pots and ground w/ alot of water (I now regret after just reading some other posts, hehe)

BUT here is my question
When I was taking the sprouts out of the paper towel, they were kinda tough to pull of the towel since it seemed they had attached to it. So ,as delicately as I could in the hot hot sun and annoying bugs around me, pulled the little roots off the tower but didnt rip anything and put them about half an inch in the soil, both ground and pots. Was this correct or a death sentence to my little babies?
This is my FIRST time planting and am so excited.....I just want to plant and plant my entire backyard I was getting into it so much.PLEASE tell me I'm doing this right? ANY response would be MUCH help! THANKS!

-oh yeah, the sun is extremely hot outside, would this be detrimental to the babies in the pots and soil if I left them out for over 2 hours or something?
Thanks again - and if I'm doing this alright, WISH ME LUCK!
Love you all! peace

And 1 more thing!

All my sprouts are hunched over or just laying on the soil! =(

I just read that post about holding the sprouts up and someone mentioned that if you had enough light on top of them , shouldn't be a problem.
Is this something I should worry about? B/c I the sprouts in the pot and outdoors get the amount of light as much as the day permits. It's all to the sun. Should I put in a lamp for more light?

IS IT TOO LATE ALREADY?! I JUST PLANTED TODAY! *runs away crying* IT"S TOO MUCH TO HANDLE! AAAAAAH THE STRESS!

..ok time to go smoke this J..

love you all

Welcome.Fascinating post
When you pulled the seedlings off the paper towel, was it dry?I ask this as it seems you may have let your babes dry outIf this is the case Karma...they may never stand up agin.
Best thing i can think of to do at this stage bud,is point you in this http://www.Hempcultivation.com direction.
Look down for Germinating and have a read.
..and Yes,it seems like you did indeed plant it right way upthe green bunchy part..are the cotyledons.

=) hehe well - thanks virgo, at least someone replied
I was getting so worked up over mah cute little babies.

It's now the third day after I've planted and the 5 in pots are doing fine now it seems hehe. They are probably 1inch now? Bob Marley (the one that sprouted the best and I planted in the largest pot) was laying on the ground so pitifully, but after 2 days of hard sun and 1 night in my bathroom with 3 lamps, she ( I HOPE) is standing just fine!
There is 1 I am stupified by though - this 1 in a pot, the VERY lowest part of the stem to the soil is fine, but then it goes half way up to the ...cotyledons.. and that part is totally withered! It looks dead! =( -BUT- a little part before the very green cotyledons, it looks very healthy.
So , is it.........dead?! ....or just a little weak in the legs?

-Also, 3 out of the 7 that I have planted in my backyard have died =( but the other 4 are pulling strong!

About half of my sprouts have purple-ish stems..is this normal? Lesbian plants? =P

Well - I pray to the Ganja God my babies will make it through.
Love you all and thanks Virgo!

YES I Realize I am replying quite often to my own post, hehe, but what the hell right? I'm not causing harm...

Well, I was going to ask earlier why did I have yellow spots on my baby leaves, but I figured that was a common question and looked it up. I saw a post asking that and the conclusion was that it was too early fertilization?
When I was reading this I was just ticked off at myself b/c.....yeah you guessed it......
-Or it could've been overwatering

So, I'm stuck in a jam. I can't flush the pot, b/c then that would be over watering.
What do I do?

(Yellow spots can't be THAT bad right?)

Once all my questions are cleared up, maybe this post could be sent to the diary section? I stayed up all night reading those, and thought it'd be good for myself to do the same.

Peace, Love, Unity

It's a 12-5-7 fert and I put like half-a-handful ( ghetto measuring system) of it with the soil when I placed the sprouts in the soil

And that one baby which was like a half'n'half, it was healthy at the bottom, then looked dead, then looked healthy at the top, - died . So now I'm down to a total of 8 growing, but they look strong.

Purple stems are a sign of what?

I've read all these other posts of people saying they have 4' plants after like only 5 days! I've had mine germinating for a week in the paper toil and now it's been 4 days, and MY plants are only no more than 2'! WHY?!

oh well, I have time
Peace

you did everything wrong.....
sorry to say i dont mean to sound like a beotch but.. you ferted early, dried out yur seeds, left em too long in the T.P., overwaterd, and yeah thats about all i read..
for the next batch, plant yur seeds as soon as the shell cracks in the paper towel. also, if you are planting something with roots on it like you were on the batch you just planted, DONT transplant em in the sun. the roots hate the sun! after ya plant em, water em like s2 said, when they need it. dont fert till they're good and strong and can handle it. start off light and gradually work to a full strength dose of fert. never let the seeds dry out after you've wet them once! thats all of the advice that i can give you... welcome to the forum new grower!!!
peace

so just out of idle curiosity, why would you bother ripping the roots off of the paper in the first place?... why dont you just get a scalpel or sum **** and slice the paper into a cute little shape around the roots, and let them grow?... i mean, im sorry if im missing sumthing here, but there cant be that many nasty chemicals in the paper in the first place, especially when your only using such a small bit, and im sure that the lesser of the two evils would be to leave the roots alone in the first place, let them grow through the paper and into the soil, much like sum cloners do with egg shells, though frankly, ive always seen that as being too finicky in the first place... why not just use a peice of rock wool?... i use it and can make ten clones, put em out in the sun, and in a couple of weeks have each and eveery one growing... but anyway, i digress, i do have a point here... oh yes, here it is... does the term "biodegradable" mean anything to you?
