HIGH TIMES
“Top 10 Strain of the Year” 2006

A short history of Hashberry

In the late 1980’s we were in San Francisco and ran into a middle-aged hippie, in Haight-Ashbury, the “center of the universe” during the psychedelic flower power movement. He was driving a purple van with orange-red coloured curtains and just on his way to the Rainbow Gathering. After a friendly chat he gave us a bag of seeded weed and disappeared. We rolled a joint right then and there and walked down the street. The only thing was, that we couldn’t feel our feet anymore - we were flying! From these seeded Indica buds we developed over the years the genetic base for the mother of Hashberry. She was crossed with a special male (J7) that is part of the landrace hybrids we use in our Sadhu lineage (but not identical with the parents for Sadhu). Hashberry is not only named after the unique aroma and resiny buds, but is also derived from the initials of the famous neighbourhood Haight-Ashbury where we were fortunate to collect these special Californian seeds.

Quote:
Type: mostly indica
Contains land race genetics from: North India (Kashmir)
Cultivation: indoor/outdoor (up to 46° latitude, balcony, greenhouse)
Flowering time: 60-65 days/September (south); 1-2nd week October (north)
Yield: 450-500 gr/m2; 16-17,5 oz/sq.ft. (dry weight)
High: the classic chill-out weed; an expansive indica stone with a powerful high that sets in with the first lungfull of smoke; the buzz is first light headed and very balanced before switching to a stronger narcotic phase towards the end of your flight.
Potency: 7/10; hash: 9/10; medical effects are immediate also with long-term use; suitable for regular med users.
Aroma: fruity-berry; blackcurrant jam; hashy
Medical use: Hashberry shows medical potential against anxiety and sleep disorders; it can provide calming effects for moderate pain relief (this is not a narcotic strain to aid against severe pain).

I concur on almost every point you've made, very well said!

The flavor is a bit spicy and the smell really reminded me of some hash I've had years back. I had no hint of berry in the taste nor smell, but I can't complain at all!

You're right about those fan leaves, they are very wide. They hid alot of my budsites, but it also hid a lot of bud and made me think I had a lot less than I ended up with. Buds came out rock hard and phenomenal appeal.

I'm saving my last 7-8 gram bud to pick at on special/stressful occasions

Great report.

Just smoked some last night for the local fireworks...with a nice long cure

the buds of Hashberry are the most dense I've ever seen and you have to tuck those leaves away from the quality side colas

Let me tell you a little story, sit back and toke this

I've grown Big Bud forever. I had 2 phenos. The best one is a dense, berry pheno that had a superior yeild. Unlike anything I've ever seen, until Hashberry

10/10 all around indica for me

Thanks Gr0wer - but I swear this strain sells itself!!

another great reason to pick up this strain: break off a nug an put it in a bowl. take a couple tokes. After a while you'll notice your bowl isn't getting any lighter. That's because Hashberry smokes like resin. It's so dense that it just melts into your bowl and lasts 4x as long as any weed I've smoked.

Good Stuff!
