Actually I've been just concentrating on sunning just one side so the growth wouldn't be stunted... Maybe I should have..... But I'll get a dehumidifier tomorrow. What was your average yield from Choc?

Lacy, I've been sticking my snout near the buds (not too close) for a week, and nothing. But tonight I was putting 'them to bed', and accidentally brushed on of the colas in the back and I got a rush of choco-aroma! When do the plants begin to smell on their own? Also, when you went to harvest, did you wait for 30%/50%/75% color change to the hairs before you cut them down? I've been trying to read up, but it seems that this question can be strain-dependent.... Some people commented that a sativa should be harvested earlier (6-8 weeks), but the DNA cited an average of about 9-10 weeks.... What signs should I look for to harvest? Thank you in advance for your help!

Oh this one is a little stinker. Noooo! Do not harvest that early. The breeder even recommend 8 to 10 weeks and i think anything earlier than 8 weeks is defeating the purpose of even growing this fine strain. Here is what i highly suggest you do. Go online at ebay and order a 60 x's small microscope. They are really cool to look at the trichs to see exactly when the right time is. They aren't too much money ....maybe $15 or so You set this device down on a table and turn on the little light inside and look at the trichs on a small leaf , close up. Here you will be able to see all the trichs as the develope. Because of light differences , and all the other variables it is difficult for me to say exactly when yours will be ready. When you look under this you are looking to make sure all those goopy looking things are mostly cloudy and some are starting to turn amber. Some of them will be pure amber and some might still be clear. You aren't near there yet so you have time to get this now so you are ready to do this crucial part before harvest. High times magazine had an article out a while back that said that one grower who grew a lot of this said that 8 weeks is best but it really depends on all the variables like I said. Every one has a different style of growing and different variables come into play that it isn't a one brush stroke suites all theory here. Its an individual thing. I prefer mine indoor at 9 1/2 weeks but my ourdoors one might be a lot different and I expect her to be. I will try and get you a link to the microscope thing I mean.

Question about 'second flowering'. I was in my local coffeeshop the other day and while chatting about growing and flowering, the guy asked me if my plants were in their 'second flowering'. I told him this was my first go and really have no idea... Today I think I realized what he meant. I was curious how the colas end up so big from such a seemingly small set of branches. I hate to sound stupid, but the dried and finished product does look a bit different than a 2 or 3 week flowering. But it looks like he buds begin to 'stack' atop one another. Is this the so-called 'second flowering'? The buds are growing very fast and the larger fan leaves are turning yellow. Do I pull these off or let them drop? I've been picking them off as they yellow, but I'm not sure... Thank you again for all your help everyone!

Hi Lacy, I have a microscope on the way! When I'm ready to check, do I clip off a smaller bud to check it or check them on the plant? Will I need to 'dry' the sample first? Thanks!

![]() There is something called re-vegging but at your stage of experience, I strongly do NOT suggest it. This plant does not flower twice and you don't sound stupid at all. Its a fair and reasonable question and if you do not ask, how are you to know? I ask all kinds of questions because I want to learn all kinds of thing. Nothing wrong with that buddy. So what you are describing is completely normal and how the plant is suppose to look. Your plants are flowering approximately the same time as mine which is about 4 weeks or so. RIGHT NOW just try smelling one of those buds. She is quite the little stinker but it is just too sweet not to grow. Yes these buds look VERY different at an earlier stage than final buds do. Of course. They are not finished yet, not dried or cured. Do you notice how you now have all kinds of branches that have smaller buds starting to form all the way up to the top? Well as this flowering process continues, those buds will eventually start to grow together to form one longer bud. These buds will start to look more sugar coated and will smell really really nice. Around the 7th or 8th week, if you were to pinch one of these top buds, it would squish together and probably stay stuck like that ; it is so resinous. A good idea to do at this point is to look at some online info about harvesting so you know ahead of time , what to do to cut, dry and cure these properly. This plant is still my all time favorite. My outdoor girl is just thriving and is far ahead of the others in flowering. I didn't think she would be a good outdoor plant BUT she totally kick ass under the right growing conditions. I'll try and remember to post a pic of her later on today when the sun comes up. She's a beauty. But for now here are a variety of random pics(mixed variety of strains) of plants in the various stages of flowering. There is pre-flowering which is the stage just before real flowering(approx. 2 weeks). As far as I know, there is no such thing as 2nd flowering except for auto flowerers. These pics will show you early stages where the buds are small and underdeveloped. Then you can see them grow getting bigger and more covered with the white sticky stuff. These are the trichs and what you are looking for. Be gentle with these plants especially while they are flowering because these trich glands can be damaged if tender love and care is not given..Last edited by Lacy; 09-22-2009 at 07:37 AM..

Wow, Lacy, I really can't thank you enough for all your great advice and patience. Overall I would say that they look less 'bushy' having lost many fan leaves by now, but the colas are substantially bigger. I took pictures of my girls today to give an update. The white is the dried residue from the milk...
