Hey all. Im just curious about ph adjustment of my nute solution. I grow in dirt and feed GH nutes on a one feed/ one flush routine. I water at a ph of 6.3-6.5. I add in all my nutes and then adjust ph from there, but ive noticed that it take substantially more ph up to adjust nute solution rather than just plain water. Like with 30 gallons of nutes it may take me 50 ar 60ml to bump ph from 5.7 to 6.5, where as with plain water(no nutes) it will take maybe 5ml. Why is this, and is all that ph up healthy for my girls? Opinions appreciated. Cheers. ![]()

![]() | something sounds wrong. pH up is baking soda, sodium bicarbonate, NaHCO3 and will cause nutrient lockups when you add too much. If the pH is greater than 5.7 then it should be fine enough you should not need pH up. There are a variety of possibilities as to what you are doing wrong so I'm not going to try and narrow it down. pH just needs to be in ballpark its not a big issue. (in hydro: 5.1-6.7, soil you may want it a little higher say 5.5-6.8).

I was under the impression that the soil and water ph for plants should be as close to nuetral as possible? was I misinformed? my water is almost 8.0ph and i don't know if I should bother to lower it. all of the ph adjusters that i have found are for large quantities of water 10-1200 gallons. I have a one gal. watering jug that I want to adjust. Help? Kronic Pyro

![]() | you want the soil to be slightly acidic.... so less than 7 is okay.. my advice is that you leave the water sit for a couple days and therefore evaporate some of the chlorinie......it will be closer to 7 then and add a little acid to the water.... a pH of greater than 7 works but the micronutrients all become defficient ie. magnesium and others....

I have found my problem guys. After hours of internet exploration and many opinions I have failed to look at the simplest explanation. My expensive Nutridip tri-meter is defective. I went and got some litmus paper and found my trimeter to be out by and entire digit, even after calibration. Ie: It read seven when the paper read six. My ph has been very high causing a micro-nute lockup and a P deficiency, not to mention the copious amounts of ph up ive been using which as you said six piece will cause further lockups. I will flush tonight with a strong B1 formula at the corect ph and see what happens. Thanx for the help. Cheers. ![]()
