![]() | Welcome to the hobby Ken. In the future, if you think a question is easy, then it has likely been asked and answered a bazillion times on these boards, so just take look around. For instance, there is a forum to discuss nutrients (nutes) and ph, so you could take a look around there. To answer your question, I think MJ likes a ph between 6.3-6.8. This information is definitely in the Grow Guide, so check it out. Always check the grow guide and if it doesn't answer your question, you can try using the search button. Good luck on your grow! ![]() | Anywhere from 6 to 7 (being neutral). 6.2 to 6.5 being optimal (slightly aciditic). Look at this thread, http://www.hempcultivation.com/420/s...hlight=acidity Hope you find what you're looking for. ![]()

![]() | Also, to raise or lower the ph, garding type stores sell "ph up" or "ph down" that can change the ph. Fertilizers also have an effect. Read through the appropriate forum and you'll learn a ton. Good luck. Cloudy-B

![]() ![]() | Vinegar also lowers PH, and some of the best gardeners on this site recommend it over PHDown.

![]() | i always hear people say 'use vinegar to lower PH' but how much? how much vinegar would it take say to lower the PH .5 or even .1 for a 1 gallon pot Would it have to be in a water solution, i'm guessing not, but then I realise it wont be as widespread and even as if u put it with the water. even a slightest guesstimate would be appreciated

![]() | i just got my digi pH meter from eBay today and was shocked to find my 5 gal bubbler at about 8.1!! ended up using about 4 or 5 capfuls of vinegar to drop it down to approx 5.4. in your case of such minute increments for your 1 gal pot (i'm assuming you grow in soil) try adding vinegar by the drop. as for you wanting to lower by .5 or .1, is that even necessary? use your gut instinct and base your decision whether you need to lower the pH on the plant's appearance. when you do, i'd suggest going very slowly (1 drop at a time)

I reccommend you buy some Buffer at the local Hydroponic store to clean your PH meter, 8.1 is very unlikely seeing how straight tap water is arounf 6- 6.8. And to the question about the ideal PH level... 5.8-5.7 around there For clones or babies i suggest around 4 Mike

![]() | i've been filling my rez in the bathroom where the water (out of sink or shower) reads approx 8! i tested the pH meter in the kitchen where we drink our water which measured 6.2. the meter was purchased brand new factory calibrated and then calibrated again by the seller before shipped to me. i also have a ph calibration kit which i will use in the future to check the readings. i read that distilled water reads 7.0. could plain old distilled h2o be used to calibrate a meter instead of expensive calibration kits?
