![]() | Recently my plants developed yellow tips at the bottom of the lowest leaves. It didn't make much sense until I checked the soil. So I dug up some soil and tested the ph... it read over 8.2! Now, when it started yellowing, it was 5 days after a transplant in a new soil. So I'm thinking: this new soil that I made up is high in ph because I added A LOT of wood ashes... So, how do I succesfully correct the ph? I have 3 liter pot with a 5 day old soil mix. The bottom leaves are developing yellow tips. what kind of ph acid rating should I shoot for to cancel out the high ph? how much water? how long should I wait until I do the ph change? o yea, I have enough light for the grow and the enviromental conditions are ideal. thanks

![]() | Quite honestly, i'm not the best one to advise you about products as i live a long way from US and i have no access to that kind of stuff. As i don't have anything better around, i'm getting used to correct the PH with some product for fish tanks, hehehe, at least till i can get my hands on something better! It works, but it demands for permanent corrections and you have to be guessing all the time; i do not wish that for noone unless there's no alternative... I'm shure you'll be able to acess much more resources then i, so i will warn lilbuddie about your situation; he lives in US and is used to brands, special products and that kind of stuff. Don't worrie to much , PH generally is easy to correct, in 2/3 days they are going normal again, unless the situation is already serious, not your case.Lil, you have the word... wolf

![]() ![]() ![]() | Well, I'm not LB, but I can throw in my two cents. I can't help you with rates of application, but you can lower the pH with sulfur, amongst other things. You can also even use vinegar (diluted in water), but I'm guessing you want something to mix in with the soil? Anyway, I'd wait until LB chips in with his .02, but hopefully that will help you out a bit. rganic

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Next time don't add so much ash just because it's free ![]() You want to shoot for a pH of 6.5.... I don't know what you have access to but ..... 1) you can transplant into correctly adjusted pH soil 2) Use vinegar as organic suggested 3) Bat Guano tea will lower pH (not sure of rates though) 4) Use aluminum sulfate (avail @ nursey) used to lower soil pH ... 2 tbl / gal will lower you soil pH by about 2 points immediately ![]() What do you have available to you to use? You need to get that down immediately!!!!! Use the vinegar to start and then you can use one of the other methods .... I'd really advise to transplant though immediately!!!!!!! ... that would be the best thing to do since they are reacting so bad to the soil you are currently using .... but there are some options for ya ![]() LB

![]() | Well, today the plant has grown a lot, but still the yellow tips are there. The leaves that first sprouted have fallen off (they tunred yellow and brown) and died; it didn't bother me becuase they weren't very big. I really don't want to transplant again, because it just recovered from a transplant earlier. So I'm thinking of just making an acidic vinegar water solution and blasting it. I wen't to a local nursery and they didn't have bat guano tea. The aluminum sulfate sounds like a good idea, I might just go ahead and find some (since you said it corrects the ph quickly) and use it instead of vinegar. does this sound like a good idea? it's been 6 days since the transplant in new soil, should I wait a bit? or go ahead today?

Imagine you are standing in a tub of hot water and you can't get out .... That's what your plants are going through. They aren't gonna get better they are gonna get worse .... If they haven't all started losing their greenish look to yellow you are still ok but how are they gonna grow bigger roots when they can't get any food? But yeah you can try and adjust it ... A probe tester works best ![]() LB

Right now the leave tips that were going yellow have now gone brown - but no extra yellowing on the leaves; which is good. but I got this new problem, on the next set above the yellowed tips, I'm getting little spots ranging from red to yellow, but are very small. On the oppisite leafs, there are these indentations forming with a green/mustard look that look like lakes. what is it? this my first grow today I used the fan directly for 12 horus straight. I ferted with Nitrogen and a small amount of Vinegar and water threee days ago; ph is unknown right now. new growth is strong on this plant, shrubs are everywhere!, even on the first leaves cali

![]() | I turned off the lights and looked at the plant again with the fluro's. The bottom set is brown as I said, but I noticed the point when the brown meets green, is layered with yellow... too bad now the leaf that had the spots, I noticed that the tip was turning yellow ![]() whats weird is the lake thing was on the third set and not on the 2nd set, oppisite spotted leaf... whats even more weird is that the oppisties of each set don't have any problems... so whats going on here? could it be the screwed ph? help

![]() ![]() ![]() | Yes, have you adjusted it yet? You NEED to correct the pH before you do anything else. LIke LB said, the clock is ticking! Having the pH off can cause a lot of other problems. Make sure when you correct it to do so slowly. You shouldn't change the pH more than 1.0 at a time. Fix that pH and let's go from there! rganic

![]() | it's around 6.8 - 7.1 Today the lakes have started to turn brown and have gotten bigger. I am now noticing yellow tips on all of the leaves - over fert? I started a light fert after 2 1/2 weeks from sprouting. Then a week later I ferted with a higher amount of fish emulsion and some vinegar to lower ph (I did this exactly 5 days ago) answers?
