Excellent links Brindie!!! I know this has been a hot topic debate since I've been here. It was one of my 1st posts after joining.

My experience follows the test results in the links you provided, to a "T". I had bad experiences with the 2 probes I owned (Rapitest & Ferry Morse). I did some testing on my own, and came up with the same conclusion.

I always suggest trying to test these "probe" meters to be sure that you aren't getting bad info. I basically did the same thing that was done in some of the testing. It only took about 5mins to realize I was following bad info.

I took a soil sample and measured it....it read 7.0 pH. I then added lime to the sample. Mixed it well, and re-read it. It was the same!!!

So I took another sample from the same soil batch. Only this time, I overdosed it with nutes (acidic). When I tested with the probe meter....you guessed it. It didn't change. This meter was also supposed to test for nutrient conductivity.....it didn't show an increase of nutrients either.

When I finally took the advice that I got from my post, I ran out and picked up a soil test kit. I haven't had a soil pH problem since.
