hi folks,

this is what i am using:
40 lbs of organic soil from a local nursery
12 quarts of perlite
10 tablespoons of root fungi

i use this as the basic soil mix for vegging,

when i repot for flowering i add hydroton balls.
i layer hydroton balls on the the bottom for drainage,
cover it with the soil mix adding 2 cups of balls scattered in the mix.
on top of the soil i add a layer of hydroton balls.

this set-up gives excellent drainage and water holding ability.
i have saturated the plants with water and had it last for 7 days without needing to re-water.

How about this...
permalink

I go by parts, not precise measurements. Fractions are read as: (# of parts of soil additive/ per # of parts of soil)

1 (part): Basic, non-preferted soil
3/4 (part): Organic Nutrients/Fertilizers (See below for mix)
1 (part): Peat moss
3/5 (part): Perlite
2/5 (part): Vermiculite

Organics Mix:

2 (parts): 4-12-0 Bone Meal
1 (part): 0-0-60 Potash
1 (part): 21-0-0 Ammonium Sulfate
1 (part): 12-0-0 Blood Meal

This is a vegetative soil mix.

**Edit** To avoid any confusion, you should mix up the organics mix in a separate bucket first. Once mixed together, then you go to the main soil list (and add 3 parts of organics mix per 4 parts of soil, as it shows).

I use Fox Farm Ocean Forest (35 lb bag) and mix in two Sunleaves Coconut Coir Bricks. Then use Fox Farm Grow Big, Fox Farm Big Bloom and Fox Farm Tiger Bloom for nutes starting at 1/4 strength at 14 days then increasing to about 3/4 strength towards harvest. Since I only grow White Widow and White Russian I rarely use the recommended nute strength since they seem to like their nutes a little bit on the light side.

Very simple and very effective. I yield about 1 1/2 oz per plant (1 oz to 1 1/4 oz for those plants on the outer edges) using one 600 watt HPS with 10 plants.

Shultz Potting soil Plus with a 0.08-0.12-0.08 ratio,
Some good sand for drainage,
and some black gold (compost),
Mix it up and voila! It's all I've ever used and it works great, o/d of course...

Favourite Soil Mix...

Hey fellow Gardeners.

Over the past few years Ive come to this..
50 to 60 liters of Topsoil or composted Soil plus 20 to 30 liters of Wormcastings mixed well with the following ingredients...

-> 40 to 50 liters of Perlite, add a small amount of Vermiculite if you wish, but the Castings can do the job well enough on there own.
-> 1 and 1/4 cup Bloodmeal for Nitrogen
-> 1 and 3/4 cup Bonemeal mainly for Phosphorus
-> 2 cups of Kelpmeal mainly for Pottasium and Micro-nutrients
-> 1 to 1 1/2 Tablespoons of Epsom salts for Magnesium
-> 1 teaspoon of Dolomite Limestone for Calcium and pH balancing

That mix of soil should contain enough food for the plant to grow happily and well its entire life, depending on the strain your growing and how old you wish your plant to be..

I watered with a Kelpmeal tea (one to two tablespoons per gallon of warm water) in between waterings of pure aged water, I got some nute-burn but nothing too harmful and the plants seemed to enjoy the high content of natural matter, even though it seemed too strong for them, depending growing conditions, as always I used weak doses of Alaska Fishfert, 5-1-1 for Veggin and 0-10-10 for Buddin throughout the certain periods of growth and got away with it, just make sure to used pure water often, and give them enough at a time so theres a "run off". Dont water too frequently, its a good idea to give the plant one or two days between waterings to avoid root-rot, mold or stunt of growth, and the plants roots enjoy O2 just as much as H20.

Just try to keep the pH of the soil around 6.8 and avoid any harsh cases of nutrient burn, and the plants should grow healthy and deliver nice lookin' buds

Happy Growing folks!

I grow far ou in the bush along creeks and rivers both running and dryed up, depending on the season (tropics) This is my first REAL grow so don know how they will turn out but as youngsters theyre doing well.

Here goes...
Very simple along dryed up rivers and creeks up to a height where they have flooded to in the past i find pockets of washed up organic matter mixed in with creek sand. Ratio of 8:1 organic matter to sand. This mulch is decomposed in difrerent satges some old and some layers less decomposed, some of it still smells (not ready yet). But never the less 90% organic matter which is very light and airy. Some of thse pockets are huge containg literaly tonnes. When i run my hands through this stuff my eyes gleam. Ph is high 6's I also am mixing in cow ****. i still have to dig it up, bag it and carry it to a nice spot (gut busting) but then All i have to do is bring in the ferts. Right now im using dynamic lifter (chicken poo) and grow more (pig poo). For flowing i'll use some king of flowering mix. My pots are white fertilizer bags covered with hesian (potatoe sacs) for camoflauge. On average 30 or so kilos.
