Good vibrations

I've heard of people playing music for thier plants, and i saw an episode of mythbusters were they proved there were benifits to doing this, my theory is that maybe the sound waves vibrate the plant, albiet slightly, and this might be aiding in efficiency of the plant transporting water and nutrients throught itself. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to try, or has ever heard of someone using something that would actually send vibrations thru the whole plant, maybe by rigging up something you could set the pot on that had a mild vibration to it, maybe even some that had medium and strong vibrations.

Don't know if any them ideas will work or not but i can promise you that the energy demand to move enough air to vibrate a plants stem to a registerable scale would be intensely unfeaseable for the meger amount of end result that it might or might not produce.
I'd use them 1000's of energy wattages in them there luminaries gizmos..

what????? You could easilty rig up some device using a small 12 volt motor that would spin an unevenly wheighted rod, enclose it in something, and tie it to a stick that could be pushed into the soil.

such hostility funny man, it's not my fault you thought it would take thousands of watts of electricity to send vibrations thru a pot plant.

i really don't want to get argumentative, but in my first post i said "I was wondering if anyone would be willing to try, or has ever heard of someone using something that would actually send vibrations thru the whole plant, maybe by rigging up something you could set the pot on that had a mild vibration to it, maybe even some that had medium and strong vibrations."

To have something audible that would send vibrations would probably end up becoming a nuciance, the whole idea is to rig something that would send more vibrations thru the plant than music at a moderate level would, to see if its the vibrations that come from the sound waves that cause the plant to grow better.

thanks for the link, the only problem is that it didn't mention what type of device was used to make the vibrations, or where it was placed, or at what frequency, wich are pretty imporatant factors. it also said they only did it for 60 seconds a day wich seemed odd, i wouldn't think that doing it for that short of a period of time would have that much of an impact, pretty wild. I really wish a had a grow room the size of a basement so that i could have a section in it to do experimental grows.

kill-9 is beginning to sprout.

In Northern California there are Humongous Redwoods and these trees have gotten to their size without music. There is no music in the forest or nature. Of course you can talk about birds singing and animal sounds. But nothing like moonlight sonata by beethoven.

If you want to argue vibrations help a plant, maybe, in earthquake form, something that moves the soil around plant roots, possibly creating air gaps and of course they would benefit.
