![]() | Would live earthworms (nightcrawlers) in the soil with your mj plants be beneficial? Would they hurt the root system at all or just be casting machines?? Im just thinking that maybe it would be a good thing to have ![]()

I'm sure they would be benificial "In an organic environment" You wouldn't be able to use the chemical ferts I'm not sure how well they would like the confined space not like they would complain alot you would have to have a significant dead organic stuff in the dirt for them to eat I guess they could escape easy enough if they really didn't like it I've seen them crossing hot concrete when there was too much water in the ground can you picture them crossing your carpet? ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i was going to try it this grow but ended up not because i didnt want to see them all over the floor. lol if your growing completley organic, wich means not one chemical, they should be happy. i would try keeping a lot of fresh organic material on the to of the dirt. such as leaves and stuff. im not too sure what worms eat really. im sure they could provide a little castings. they can probably help out the microbe populations too.

![]() ![]() ![]() | I use worms in all my plants all the time. Here's the deal though. Nightcrawlers are not good choices, mostly because they are deep burrowers(18+ inches under) and they just get too big to keep in a pot. Red worms are the way to go. they are smaller, burrow much shallower, reproduce faster and eat more! I bought a 20$ "culture" from a worm bin supplier and quickly had enough to supply our myriad of houseplants and my garden. We also keep a worm bin to keep populations up. if a pot stops showing signs of activity we just add more worms and food.

Lol i can picture them crossing carpet as i have seen my red wigglers do exactly that.!! They didnt make it to the Promised Land... I had to much produce(tomatoes) in my container and it got to wet.. I think earthworms in your buckets are a waste of time personally... Just use the castings... Grow red wigglers Last edited by SERENITY1; 07-04-2009 at 12:37 PM.. Reason: Cause i can
