Nasa has grown many crops in space, most notably aboard the international space station.

They do it in special NFT or aero set ups, in trays, with HO Floros.

Some plants seem to go a little bonkers in zero or micro Gee. They've found that a lot grow better in .2 - .5 Gee, due to gravitropism. Otherwise, sometimes they forget which way is up with only the lights to go by.

Think of this, though- First Contact with an alien species, and to give them MJ you have to get them a MMJ Recommendation first.

What are HO Floros?

Also, I believe that they're experimenting with crazy-specialized-LEDs (which of course are available on Ebay for $19.99, the EXACT ones, right? /sarcasm).

Can you imagine the incredible relationship earthlings could build with aliens if our first special gift to them was a selection of fine cannabis varietals?

it would depend on the satellites orbit and having some shutters to keep the photo period on par

Yeah literally out of this world.

For space travel they will still need lights for when they are too far from the sun.

Good morning,

Growing in space next to the sun... Unless your little satellite is parked next to the sun you probably will not be growing in the normal fashion using the sun like we do here as earthling's.
The International Space Station orbits the earth at the blazing speed of 18,000 mph
I believe the inhabitants on the ISS witness 1 sunrises and sunsets every 90 minutes (about 15 or 16 of each one), i'd think our little clones wouldn't know weather they were coming or going ...
You'd definetely be growing under HO = High Output Fluros like T5's but, I believe they are using high end LED's as mentioned.

18,000 mph is unbelievable in my head ... Simply blazing speeds

Good luck in getting permission & God speed on your trip to the ISS to experiment with the "Growth of MJ in Zero G"

They went to LED a while back in tests. They found that LED are less bulky, meaning more room for food, but the juries out on if they grow well enough for wheat yet.

Speaking of Wheat, their newest line of Apogee wheat is 8" tall max at maturity, while yielding more per acre of conventional Wheat!!

Poor little MJ bud. After Nasa got done, it would be a cola the size of a 2-liter bottle growing sideways, to take advantage of the shelving system of the T-5's. All the earthly MJ would make fun of it and call it Timmie.
