Hi All,

So this grow I'm trying a better way to use the bananas. Last grow was no change- got about 50/50. BUT Had some stresses and things.

So this grow, I read that Apples give off more Ethylene gas than bananas. I once had a link to an "apple juice method" but cannot find it anywhere. :scratch2:

Does anyone know where the link is, or what you do with the apple juice method? I mean, do you just spray it on straight, and for how long/what ages?

Any help will be appreciated.

This grow, since I'm having 2 cabinets, I might do bananas in one, apples in the other. But I'd like to try apple juice in conjunction with that.

try using a dousing rod and whacking yourself in the head with it, or ask a witch doctor, he'll have the same luck as you. Hello,

I searched a little and I found this all seeds can be female - Cannabis Culture Forums

According to MY previous research on this it is the gas that is given off during the ripening process. I am not sure how juice would ripen? I am not saying that it can't, I just didn't run across any information regarding juice releasing the gas.

Hey I tossed a couple bananas in my room. If it "worked" or not it only cost me $2 to try it out. I had 6 of 10 that were females.

If anyone else finds information on juice I would read it for sure.

Thanks bertman33, too bad that was a new thread and started by a flamer to boot.

I am hoping for a link I had at one time, they started off with the Ethylene Gas/apple juice, but the apple juice got shouted down and I b'lieve they ended up with just apples.

I think at one point the apple juice got confused with the gibberelic acid method of producing female seeds from a female plant.

This grow I'm gonna try apples, just cos they are .50 a pound around here, so it'll be a $2.00 experiment if I have to replace them 4 times.

Short of buying Fem'ed seeds, and looking out for Hermies, why not?

I got 18 little babies, ought to see something more than 9 Fem's if it works.

Here's a study done with cucumbers- which have strains that produce mainly females, mainly males, or mainly Herms.

Dense reading, but it shows the mainly female-tending strains produce 50% more ethylene then male-leaning strains, leading to the theory that ethylene itself produces females.

They introduced ethylen to the cucumber plant when small........and........increased the # of females form the male-tending strains. Meaning they took male-leaning plants and turned em female.

AND I found the spray that contains Ethephon, which breaks down rapidly into the plant hormone Ethylene. Turns out, I could either get an Ethylene generator for probably waaaayyyy to much money, or a foilar spray for $30 a quart.
