| I was wondering if anyone else has used food coloring to make plants a different color? I have used blue food coloring mixed with water and the plant turned a dark green color. The plant did not seem to effected health-wise and continued to grow at its average pace. I just wanted to know if anyone else has tried this with other colors and what the outcome was? | ||

High everyone. Lurking around the boards, i was wonderin exactly that. I remember in highschool, well sorta, heh heh, you slice a celery and dip into a mix of water and food coloring, and voila, orange/yellow/purple celery. Will weed do the same thing, and is this coloring harmful to your lungs later? Nobody updated this page in a while, so i thaught i'd refresh it.!! highonline.

| i know very little on this topic BUT, i know that if you take a white carnation and put it in blue foodcoloring that the FLOWER will take the color of the foodcoloring somewhat... so im guessing that ure plant would only be effected on the flowers, which could take the color of the dye. correct me if im wrong, ~wrongway | ||

so you are all forgetting that the high school science celery was cut from it's roots, so that water and coloring was simply moving up through capillary action. Not the same with a living plant, so it does not happen. Also, unless someone knows what happens to those things under combustion, or if the vapor forms are harmful, probably not a good idea. Since this comes up a lot, and seems to always come back around, why? What is wrong with green herb that tastes like herb? I am still baffled. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hello folks, a plant wil npot be able to absorb the food coloring and the experiment with the carnation is probably an example of osmotic pressure or as bgetting has pointed out, xylem or capillary action. Regds, OzGrowa

OK Wrongway...how 'bout adding color AND maybe an artificial smell or flavor! That could be interesting to have a bud that's like maybe a deep tan and have it smell like bakin' bread! Or a blueberry muffin straight outta the oven! I once worked with a guy who sold oils that had smells like bread and such and if ya put a drop on the lightbulb before turning it on and it was pretty cool. This is real funny, but I read your post before lunch (I normally don't smoke before I come into work) and thought your idea of colored pot kinda strange. Then I went home for lunch and packed a coupla fat bong loads, and when I got back to work and read your reply I thought, "ya know...that would be kinda cool to have a like maybe a fire engine red or sea blue plant! I love the way the bush allows you to dismiss the logical at times and say, like you said in your last post..."why not?" Ah....behold the power of pot!!!!
