hey there,

grafting is pretty sketchy, and usually done to get a new shoot onto a healthy, disease resistent root stock. You are right, it is interesting and you may have fun trying it. You could find out more about different kinds of grafts in the book "Plant Propagation: Principles and Practices"
I am a little confused about what you want to do with the males that involves grafting. If you graft a male shoot to a female root stock, the plant will still be male. But you can graft a female shoot to a male root stock, and then you will have a female.
Good luck.
