Theoretically speaking....

How high and for how long can you grow a plant? I just moved my plants to a new spot that has a hight of 15 feet. If I grew all three plants to 10 feet and flowered them, would they be able to endure the whole flowering stage?

If you grew a plant to 15', how big of a pot would you need to hold the root ball? And most important how much bud could I expect from one 15' tall plant? (I know that's a hard question, but a guess could help me)

I could have the grow space any size that I need. For example I could have it 4x4x15 or 5x5x15 what would be the best amount of space for 3 plants to grow up to 15'? For now I only have 75300 lumens of light. I'm gussing that I'd need more to achive best results for a few 15' plants?? I could get a few and put them in the corners of the area....

I'm looking for feed back on this idea. I'd like to know if anyone has done this kind of thing before. My plants are at 2' now and they have been growing since sept. I guess that's 1 foot per month....8 more to go......

Thanks for the feed back,

peace

In theory, I'd say indefinitely as long as it is recieving more than enough hours of light to keep from flowering. Thisis taking into account that you have a huge pot or whatever, big enough lights etc etc.

All things being equal ... yes .... But you need and ton of light if you are going to expect it to penetrate a distance of 15 feet!

As a general rule of thumb, and easy calculations, it is 1 gal to eack foot of plant, some others say 1 cubic foot of soil for each foot of plant ( if I remeber correctly one cubic foot is about the volume of a milk crate that holds 4 gal jugs)... basically one big ass pot

I have never seen any posts that someone did this but hey I can't read all the posts on the web

I thikn if you truely want large plants you need to add more light and definitely some good side lighting... I think this is a must!!

The lumens drop off rapid for each foot you move from teh source so at 15' a 1K light would have a hard time gettting a good blast of lumens down to that distance.....

Why not think of 2 chambers that are stacked and are 7' a piece? one for veg onr for flower of both for flowering and your lumens rating will stay higher?

Just my idle thoughts

One cubic foot is a Cube = 1ftx1ftx1ft.

The grow is possible with side lighting and good training.

Perhaps a tall skinny BoG. A sativa would definitelty be the way to grow. Check out the african straing. Some of them would work well if you can provide the light.

I can see multiple small HIDs behind a heat sheild with a screen and the plant trained up the other side.

Good thoughts and advice guys, thanks. I would love to grow a plant that big! But reality is slowly setting in and I'm thinking that the 2 7' chambers would probably be more realistic. (actualy 2, 7-1/2 foot chambers ) I would hate to go to all that work and time to end up with a giant plant that I could not harvest properly.
But still having a few 7-1/2 foot plants would be nice too I'll just train them as much as possible for as long as possible. that'll work eh?
I do plant to grow a huge plant one day. Perhaps I'll even change my mind yet about this grow

.....just another newbi with too many ideas.....

I'll be sure to keep ye all posted on what happens. Woulden't you just love to see a pic of a 15' plant??

happy grow'n

Is this indoor?

You can grow them forever if you keep the lights at veg. That is the theory anyway, realistically, I think much past 3 years and they start to flower regardless. People keep mothers for years and years though, which isn't any different than what you are talking about.

If this is indoors, the rule I owuld go with is that you can expect a certain amount of bud based on the lighting. My general rule is 1 lb/ 1000W, but I'm sure that people have other feelings about that. So once you reach a certain size, the extra tissue won't matter since you are going to get the amount of herb that corresponds to the amount of lightyou have. Although the extra tissue may support a little more than average since you have all that tissue to draw upon for nutrients. I think no matter what you are going to have some monster colas on top, which is good. If you can keep the lower, looser buds trimmed, you should be able to get some really large top colas.
Man, that sounds like fun. To have a chair right in the middle, hmmm.

hiyas all just my 2 bobs worth...i dont think there was any mention of tying them down? we normally grow to a hieght of 6' or so indoors with a 1000w per 2 plants max.It seems tho u must tie them down as in use feet and feet of twine and just keep tieng them down every day that way the plant gets a lot more light they become wider of course but still get to six feet or so..dont forget a 2' plant left to flower for another 2 months is gonna get near that hieght anyways

ok, the light bulb flashed on..... evil idea has been processed.... consider this, if you grew one plant continuosly, trained to grow on its side (like a vine), where it grew from one growth chamber into the next, one chamber has 18/6 lighting, the next 6/12. in theory, you have one plant and a continuous harvest. sort of like a convayer belt. because mj, unlike other plants, it has the charateristics that each branch can act like its own independant plant. its just a thought.......
peace....

nice idea though, but as soon as any part of the plant is exposed to flowering light, then the whole plants will flower. Would've been cool though.
