![]() | someone told me about this: using human feces as a growing medium, as long as its kept moist-ish, and a big advantage is that you don't need to add any ferts to the crop...big money saver...anyone else hear of this?

![]() | Bri, Never heard of that. Theoretically it sounds good, I mean, Human fecal matter should be pretty fertile, considering the diversity of the food that we eat. But that would stink to high hell! I would imagine that it would need some composting, though. Any way, wouldn't want to try that indoors. I mean, if you thought you had an odor problem before . . . ![]() Bass Ghost

![]() | Human manure isn't really a good idea. The fresh fertilizer (known as night soil) has an NPK ratio of .51 - .1 - .23 and is known to contain plenty of disease. The idea that you would save money by crapping in your mix is pretty silly anyway. Ferts are also dirt cheap and it is recommended to not cut corners with them. If you do try this, make sure to keep it completely composted for a long while. - War

![]() | instead of using Human feces for growing your plants try worm casting they are are good for the soil and are not smelly for indoors and alot easier than telling people your crappin in the container and playing around with it.why not just use peat moss or dirt??? i have seen a site from one of the posts on this site that had links and i click on it and it was a page with an outdoor bathroom and they were using human waste for growing things

![]() | well didn't the famous "new york city white weed" (silver pearl?) lose its white pigment because it grew in the sewers of new york city....and new york sewers are filled with not only human #1 & #2, but also lots of rat #1 & #2...even a occasional crocodile..... or is the whole sewer weed just an old urban legend????

![]() | I have to laugh at this thread, sorry Bri! If you wanted to use sh*t then get some horse or cow manure. Just make sure its dry before you pick it up. I've never heard of the sewer weed (probably coz I live in australia not New York) but if it flooded and the water was flowing really fast wouldn't the plants just get swept away? We should have a forum for urban legends to do with weed. Addie.
