I was doing some reading last night trying to find something for one of you, and I stumbled across and interesting fact-
"Exogeneous (externally applied) Gibberellic acid has been shown to promote maleness in Cannibus."


I know that I have seen posts where people were trying to apply GA, or they were wondering if it were a good idea. I would strongly advise against it, as this study was well done, had controls provided, and many, many, documented cases of GA causing female plants to turn an extreme hermie, as well as lower yield of flowers. Although, one thing that they did show is that GA inhibitors promoted femaleness, and even raised the yield.

Just a warning to those thinking about using hormones to juice their plants.

I have just been informed of somethig that will help some of you...

The main use of GA in cannibus growing is to create feminized seeds. Apply the GA to a female branch, male flowers grow, and the resulting seeds are feminized.

May be of some use to those of you breeding. I would guess that this takes many generations, but I am not sure.

What it does is cause the plant to go hermie and produce all female seeds;exactly, ensuring a possible all female crop but what is also happening is that hermie are popping up that has reported from growers of those strains
BTW, This is how the Dutch are producing the all female seeds you see at the seed banks

If you are really interested in breeding and keep the ladies pure I would avoid GA ... If you are more interested in production then you'd want to try it out ....

But once you introduce that gene into the pool it isn't going anywhere and must be contentded with as with some of the very well known strains available today.

Which makes me think about all the good strains that have been lost due to all the breeders cross breeding strains out of existance ... I mean experiment sure but keep a pure stock with the full pure genetics as well ..... ya know breed a full crop every 3-5 years and replenish the seed supply then have fun again .. wouldn't have been that hard ..sigh ... so we have to deal with what we have today which means being very selective sometimes in the strains that one wants to start his stock with ... But I digress .....
