![]() | What is it? Does it say anything on the bottle? I am assuming (withou knowing ****) that it is ethylene based and you soak seeds in it? Personally, I like to leave my plants natural, so I don't like the idea of "making" them female, because I feel like that will come back and haunt me later. I am curious about what you are holding though, what is in it? what is the active ingredient? Who makes it, where did you get it? ![]()

![]() | I don't have it now, but my company uses it in large amounts daily to "force ripen" their fruits a few days before harvest. ON the net, numerous pages all say that ethrel, when sprayed in the early stages of a plant will turn almost all of them into females.

![]() | yeah, that is a commercial name for ethylene. That is how most fruit is ripoened now, it is picked early, shipped to it's destination, and then exposed to ethylene which hastens ripening. I would say that you could use it, however I am not sure what the effects will be. I am not totally sure exactly what "ripening" means in regards to MJ.

![]() | I searched for "ethrel female" and got fascinating results. It looks like a major growing guide said that at some point, and there are about 50 copies of that same grow guide on the net. When hit with theories like this, I always wonder, with such a massively positive result, why hasn't this information gotten out to the major growers? Why isn't the substance available from hydro stores, etc.? It looks fairly safe, looks like it could work, looks like it could save a lot of time. Maybe the major growers are just that much more aligned to using clones and don't care to do tricky things like using hormones.

![]() | MJ is the only annual plant with sexes. Other growers use other propagation techniques for these kind of things, since growing from seed is time consuming. Based on what I know about ethylene and MJ, the results aren't so promising, and hermies result wuite a bit. ![]()

![]() | I am doing reasearch, and will start growing soon. I'll be doing some experimentation with Ethrel in the following years. Here's a question: spraying plants just before flowering is said to force flowering (which is what Ethrel does to other plants/crops), but I'm wonering how long this stuff lasts. I do know regarding Pineapple, Ethrel is sprayed and picked within 3 days minimum, so It's safe to consume the pineapple on day 3 after spraying. Won't the Ethrel remain on the weed when you smoke it? I think I'll soak seeds in Ethrel and spray them early in their growth stage to promote faster flowering. All tests. But I won't be doing this for another year probably.

![]() ![]() | I spose something like this would be more effective when pot is legalized, like commercial crops where volume is the most important factor. If you want to save a few days off flowering your grow, why not just use a 13/11 cycle instead of 12/12? At 72 flowering days you should have saved 3, or so the theory goes... (kinda like Spinal Tap and turning it up to eleven, man) ![]() Smokin

![]() | you can always try it and find out the sex of the plant. but think about spraying it with something that isn't that well known to the growers, if it were that good I am sure they would use it for a good profit, after all it's all for the money to them. and after you force flowering with it, can you re veg it if wanted, and how would it effect clones if taken? hey BG hempgirl
