hey all!!!

I got some new info on on the "ammoniak on weed problem", but since my last thread changed subject after the first page, I think im gona continue here!!!

correct me if im wrong(again) but, doesnt ammonia form so called H-bridges with water, which means ammonia is water soluble, cause NH forms an H-bridge with H20...

This is another reason why weed should be legal, cause if it was..., I woulnd't have this problem!!!!!

Keep fightin!!

weedy.

I believe Bgetting answered that one in the negative in your last post - refer back to it.

OK, what you are talking about is called hydrogen bonding. This is a special kind of bond that occurs between hydrogen and oxygen atoms, due to hydrogen being real positive, and oxygen being real negative. This phenomenon is what gives water it's weird properties. It is also what keeps DNA in a helix. Anyway, I have added a JPEG to explain the bonding, but the issue I think is if Ammonia is water soluble.

I think I was pretty unclear in that other post.... Ammonia is water soluble, no doubt about it. However, when whoever you think is spraying your herb sprayed it, the ammonia that they used was in solution, so NH4, as you had pointed out before. The thing is that once it is sprayed, it may or may not react with things, so it may or may not come off. If you can't stop buying it and you have to find a way to clean this herb, yes, then rinse it heavily. Maybe even rinse it with water that has a little lower pH, like 6.0-6.5, which may help get more. My point was that it is just not a good idea to smoke anything that someone was spraying. You have no idea what they really put on there. If you have no other choice, then let the herbs soak in water for a little while, and then transfer to fresh water to rinse. This will knock off trichomes, so be careful. (oh yeah, and make sure that there is a low chlorine content in the water, because ammonia + bleach = mustard gas)
Another point that was brought up in the last thread is that ammonia smell comes from herb that isn't aired right when curing, or from decomposing things. It may be that the herb is just old, so that is your problem. Hope this helps, let me know...
<here's the blurb on hydrogen bonding>
OK, maybe not, how do you get a jpeg off my desktop and into this post? If you look up hydrogen bonding in a search engine, you are sure to find something better than my lame Photoshop rendition anyway.

OK, here is my weak rendition of hydrogen bonding, which will probably raise more questions than it answers, but ...

you can just buy ammonia, so don't assume anything. It's actually really good that you are asking instead of just smoking. And at least you aren't trying to figure out what to put on the buds to make them f*ck you up. I would say this, if you trust the herb, then don't worry. If you don't try and get it elsewhere, or rinse it with the purest water you can find. Then let it dry, and you should be fine.
Good luck
