I will be very carefull. (I just have to try)

I may move the schedule up a bit. Maybe do an initial trial with some of my current seeds. Then maybe follow up with a 2nd batch.

If that is the plan I will start this week (along with a couple of other projects)

Beta test-just to see what happens.

15 pills (older ones) in 1.5 oz of water.
3 crosses of mine in seperate jars. Seeds were harvested about 4 months ago.

I used only mature looking seeds.

I will keep you updated.

I would just as soon leave it here. The pills are old and may not work at all.
I have some fresh pills and will get more when I need them.
This is just the beta test.
I am also going to put about 5 of each cross in just plain water as a control.

And for the record:
This is a pic of the dad I used to polinate my girls.
It already has one of the poly traits I am looking for.

If you look closely you can see that this guy has 4 branches per node on the main stem as well as a secondary branch.

In any case 4 branches per node won't count as a colchicine induced trait with any successful seeds.

Just got back from the party in the chat room. Crowded all night tonight.

I will try and be as scientific as I can as I haven't seen many of these done.

Pic 1 control group-near 100% germ
Pic 2 representative of both 'A' and '3' about 10% at least, the sativa 'M' shows about 5%.(I am guessing at these %'s, I will try and get some better pics and %'s tomorrow or the next day.)


Observations:
The germ rate of the treated seed sets appears to be too high to be a sign of success. I would have hoped the germ rate was lower for the treated sets. (This may be do using old pills)

On the other hand the rate of development of the germanated seeds in the control group far exceeds that of the treated sets, so something is going on. Is it enough to create polyploidy?? We may never know from this beta test.

As a side not I will have data for rates of trait transference (4-branches per node) across 3 strains (2 indica closly related and a sativa. Might be intresting )

I am wondering that since the pills are so old, that the colichine may have degraded a bit, but there might be a large enough dose to instead of just kill most, but to just instill it into the dna of the seeds without killing them?? Maybe, I dunno, we'll have to wait and see.

Pic 1- Control- 20 seeds, about 6-7 seeds each sets A, 3, M. All but 3 are germed and most growing a visible tap root

Pic 2- seed set 'A' about 80 seeds an I see 13 germed

Set 3(no pic)- 80 seeds 9 germed

Pic 3- Set M Sativa 80 seeds and 5 are germed

Observations:
Control seeds are far past treated sets in development of a tap root.

I am feeling better about the results now that I have an accurate count. I am liking that the Sativa germ rate is so low

I will edit for %'s in a bit.

Last night I diluted the solution with tap water.
As I am checking the seed sets now I am seeing higher germ rate than shown in the last post in 'A' and '3'. 'M' (sativa) doesn't appear to have changed much.

More detail on this comming and onto planting we will go.
