psyka is beginning to sprout.

so you're saying that there are NEVER buds under the canopy...like that is the nature of marijuana or this particular method? If so i'm not going to be scrogging or rather i'll use my method >:| I want buds EVERYWHERE!

Thumbs up Nice one CC, well said...

Very informative thread to give us newbies a jump start on ScrOG'ing

Just a few questions as usual:

What length do you take your clones from the mother CC? Im guessing they'll need to be roughly the same length to give an even canopy when in full veg.

Just to clear things up, is this correct:

ScrOG: With a screen to promote even growth of the canopy.
SoG: Without a screen and therefore not such an even canopy as a ScrOG.

Cheers,

peAce

if CC will allow me ill try to answer those couple of questions, though i am a SOGer not a ScrOGer

the thread SOG Poll talks about the size of clones taken, though the thread is obviously aimed at SOG, apart from the veg time i think this applies 100% to ScrOG as well. in scrog i would expect the uniformity of the clones to be much less important, as you have the training stage at the canopy to even things up. if one plant is growing quicker than the others you can just keep training it around and fill more space with it, the only important thing being to fill the screen

as to the difference between SOG and ScrOG the difference is in the training, with scrog the screen marks the canopy height and the grower has to spend some time tucking and moving the growing tips to fill the available space.
with SOG theres simply no veg and no training, just freshly rooted clones put straight into flower. theres no canopy as the plants start off as very small clones, its your medium with colas growing out of it. instead of the scrog setup which is medium-stem-canopy-cola.

ive never tried ScrOG so please correct me if im wrong people, but i think ive read a fair bit about it on the board

Well done CC!

LMAO, just because they look the same SOG and ScrOG doesn't mean they are anything alike. They are in fact 2 totaly different concepts in growing. SOG is a large amount of short clones that are put to a flowering regiment as soon as they take root. That keeps the garden short. ScrOG is a method of spreading out the budsites so that every bud is grown in its very oun space the ideal distance from the light. Buds are basicly non existant below the screen because very little light penetrates past the canopy. DON'T KNOCK IT TILL YOU TRY IT. I have grown in every way imaginable in soil and semi Hydro I've pinched, topped, LST, trimmed, SOG, ScrOG, and even recently finished a supercropping experiment. I've used just metal halides, Metal halide veg than HPS flowering, and just HPS. ScrOG is by far the best way to get the most out of a smaller number of plants. You also get a more even quality of bud rather than just the top few branches. I love it. It also lends itself to be concealed inside of a cabinet witch is important where it's illegal.
